These sweet nugget was just super happy and fun this morning. As we were taking photos, she asked where Ms. Q was, so I said I think she beat us, and is in her class already. She said, “I wanna love Q!” So I told her we could go visit her if we hurried, and girlfriend took off running down the hallway to see her!
I had my leftover creamy tortellini soup for lunch today, and it was just as yummy today as it was fresh the other night. I had been concerned the pasta would soak up too much liquid, getting too soggy, but thickening the soup too much, but that didn’t happen at all, and it was still so good! I also read more of “Little Women” on my phone, and so far I’m making slow but steady progress.
I came across a few interesting articles today, that I think some of you might find interesting as well. One was about landline phones in homes, or I should say the lack thereof, which was ironic, because Emerson heard a landline phone ring for the first time last weekend, and had no idea what it was… The second was all about the empire Reese Witherspoon is building, and how much she champions women, and I felt so proud of her, even though that sounds so silly. And the third was about how much stuff is being ordered online & shipped around the country (not just Amazon, but groceries, food, wardrobes, mattresses), and how that’s affecting a lot of other stuff, like delivery vehicles, employees, and how cities are actually designed.
My baby girl had a good first week in her new class, and had good reports!
Today was another crazy day at work though. As I mentioned yesterday, things are crazy right now with two vacant positions in our unit. This almost means I’m getting a LOT more phone calls than I used to, and it’s a lot to handle! It’s hard to finish working on a case, when you get constant interruptions from phone calls & such… Plus, we got a last-minute emergency that came through at 4:56, so I ended up staying 30 minutes late to process that.
Luckily Jeff was able to pick up Emerson though, so I went straight home. Then we had my favorite kind of Friday night – spent at home with family, cooking & eating a simple dinner. Also, tonight was our last dinner on Christmas tree plates, sitting next to the Christmas tree, because it’s all coming down tomorrow. I love it, but it’s time to get things back to “normal.” (By the way, we’re drinking Powerade, and Jeff apologized for making our drinks Gator colors, haha 😉 )
She couldn’t stay seated in one place tonight, and went from her seat, to Jeff’s lap, to my lap, then to the chair next to me. But we kept sliding her plate around, and she ate every bite, and was very proud of herself!
After dinner & playtime, we watched some videos together, and then got Emerson ready for bed.
We let her stay up a little later than usual, because she was being so sweet and silly. And even once we went back to her bedroom to get ready for bed, she was still being so cute and silly, and just acting so goofy.
We read the caterpillar book, and two stories from the Bible storybook (which she’s very into, and I love it), and then we started to do prayers. I say the same prayer every night, which is the same one my Mama always said to Megan and I when we were growing up. (Dear Jesus, thank you for today, and thank you for Emerson. Now as it’s time for her to go night-night, we pray that you would send the angels to her bed to watch over her, and protect her and care for her all night, so that nothing will get her. Amen.) But as I was trying to say the prayer, she started singing “Jesus Loves Me” instead. So I finished up the prayer, and then let her start her song over, and she sang the whole thing, with her hands folded, so soft and sweet. She is the sweetest baby girl!!
There wasn’t too much clean-up to handle from tonight’s dinner, so I took care of that rather quickly after getting Emerson to bed, and so now of course it’s time to put on my jammies, make some hot tea, and cuddle up with my new blanket. (Can I just call it a blankie and no one judge me too harshly?)
Jeff and I watched the first two episodes of “The Mandalorian” on Disney+ last night, and of course instantly loved it. And hello! Baby Yoda (or whatever mysterious species it is), is so stinking adorable! I want a tiny stuffed version of him. For Emerson, of course 😉 Wouldn’t that be so cute, to go with her Chewbacca Potato Head?! Anyways, we’re diving back in tonight, and hopefully we’ll watch another couple of episodes before I fall asleep in the living room, which I most definitely did last night…
Also, we’re making plans to do some couch shopping this weekend at the following places, based on some of y’all great suggestions: Big Lots, American Freight, Turner’s Budget Furniture, & Ashley Furniture (and to search their stuff online). Anywhere else we should add?
