Sunrise was beautiful this morning! Those of us not able to telework got to see this huge bright orange sun cresting over the interstate this morning (which I realize isn’t a majestic location or anything, but it IS wide open and clear coming down the little hill). It’s hard to tell from a cell phone photo, but wow, it was so pretty!
Emmie had a little shoe malfunction while getting out of the car this morning, so she just plopped herself down on the sidewalk to fix it outside. Then she waved as she saw her teacher walking in, and then gave me some super sweet smiles.
In an effort to further control the spread of germs at daycare, they started a new practice today, of drop-off & pick-up in the lobby only, instead of parents walking to & from each of the individual classrooms. I had told Emerson about it at home this morning (knowing she needed to know about the change in her routine before it happened), and it went really smoothly! A teacher she is familiar with met us at the door, scooped her out of my arms, and they both waved bye as they walked down the hallway. I’m hoping it goes that smoothly every morning of this new routine!
I had another solo picnic today, which may sound pitiful, but it’s really quite lovely, and the perfect way to social distance while I still have to report to the office every day. And the weather is just so perfect! Near the end of my lunch hour, the sun has shifted slightly, so there’s a little more sun shining on me, and it feels so great.
I finished my book at lunch today, and honestly I’m still not really sure how I feel about it. It kind of had one of those non-endings, where things don’t quite finish up and I hate that. I don’t need things to be “happily ever after,” but I do at least need some closure (that goes for books & movies), so it just left me feeling kind of meh about the entire book. Wouldn’t recommend this one…. :/
Work was absolutely bonkers today, and I could barely keep up. I did get some help from a co-worker to help monitor all of our incoming stuff, but I was busy processing three different emergency issues, that took me literally the entire day. I started with the first one at 8am, and didn’t finish up the final one until 4:40pm. It was a lot of work, but I made it through, and I’m crossing my fingers that tomorrow will be a little less crazy/stressful.
My day at work might have been stressful, but Emerson had a good day at school! And she pee-pee in the big girl potty four times again today, and had zero wet diapers! She even wore her big girl panties on the car ride home, and she did so good!
Emerson specifically requested popcorn for her after school snack, and this popcorn-loving-Mommy was happy to oblige, so I could share a few bites with her myself 😉
Then while I made the easiest dinner (using BOGO fancy ravioli & Publix brand sauce, plus a can of green beans & frozen garlic bread), Emerson and Daddy did a seek-&-find puppy book, while eating her popcorn.
She was blowing raspberries like crazy at dinner, but wouldn’t eat anything, but still looked super stinking cute.
I eventually had to make her a PB&J, if she promised to to eat three green beans. Bribery works, my friends. And then she ate her whole (half) sammich.
And of course she wanted another go-gurt for her bedtime snack. That seems to be part of the new routine, so I’m hoping I can find them on sale again the next time we attempt to grocery shop! (Which might actually be this weekend, because we’re almost out of diapers, plus we need eggs, and we could use some sour cream, so we might brave a Publix or Walmart trip on Saturday.)
We hadn’t read this otter book in a few months, but she picked it for one of her bedtime books tonight, and just started reading it herself. What a precious munchkin!
She did good at bedtime again, and then I spent some time with the Napier’s reading their audio book to me, while I washed the dishes and cleaned the kitchen.
We discovered the other night that there are old episodes of Jeopardy available on Hulu, and I got soooo excited! Back in the day, my family and I always watched The Price is Right and Jeopardy every single night. We would all shout out the answers, and our goal on Jeopardy was to get 20 total questions right. By the time we were older, it was a breeze to get 20, but that’s still always stayed the goal. Anyways, now that we don’t have cable, I really miss watching Jeopardy every night, which is why I was so excited to find it on Hulu now! So, all that to say, we’re going to watch an episode or two tonight, before heading off to bed.
