Sunflowers

Jeff went to church early today to work on the tech team for worship. But I had the morning off, so the girls and I had extra time at home together before church. And I just love these little matchy sunflower romper girls!

It was a great morning in church, and since I wasn’t serving anywhere, I actually got to sit with a few friends and catch-up with them, and enjoy sitting in the congregation. Then we went out for a wild and crazy lunch at Zaxby’s with my sister and her fam. Who wants to guess how many of these photos I took, trying to get just one where all the girls were looking at me, smiling, with their hands down and normal? And did we even accomplish that? Almost – that last one below Riley just has a crazy face, but that’s as close as we got!

After lunch, I got Addison down for a nap for her, and then I laid down in my bed for a much-needed nap for myself. Jeff and Emmie both stayed up all afternoon though, watching tv and hanging out together.

When I woke up, we all went out to Publix together to stock up on BOGO snacks and breakfast and cereal. While I was in the Pub sub line, the girls were apparently making calls on their cheese-block-phones (that we weren’t actually purchasing), and Emerson later told me she was taking a “cheese selfie.”

Emerson always loves to weigh herself on these giant scales, every time we go to Publix, ever since she was a little girl. And today, Addison popped up on there too, both of them just barely weighing little more than nothing…

While we waited for the manager to fix a buy-two-get-one deal on some pepsi 12-pack cans (we thought it was buy-two-get-two, so we had four) the girls were playing “statues” on this bench, waiting very calm and sweet and silly. The trick is, you have to “buy” the statues and take them home, and hope they’re not those crazy kind of statues that come to life when you tickle them…

We got popcorn chicken for the girls, and whole Pub sub for me and Jeff to share, and we took it all home to eat with pretzels (with Noom garlic dip for me) and diet cran-mango juice for dinner, while watching “The Little Mermaid” sing-along. (Not that I actually needed the sing-along, but Emmie wants to learn the words.)

We took some time after dinner to get a few things ready for the new week, like packing Emmie’s swim bag for camp, and packing Addie’s bag with sheets & blankets for naps at daycare, plus we picked out both of their outfits for tomorrow.

Emerson was totally exhausted tonight, and fell asleep on the couch. She woke up to walk back to her room, and pretty much immediately fell back asleep. Addison was a bit more wound up, and took about 30 minutes longer to finally settle down and fall asleep, but she is finally out now. I’m gonna go set up the coffee pot for tomorrow, and clean up the kitchen a little bit, and then start winding down for bedtime…
