Summer Camp

Today was the first day of summer day camp at East Hill for Emerson, and she has been so excited all weekend! She’s been looking forward to it for days, and she was more than ready to go this morning! And cute little Addison was just ready to go back to her normal daycare like always.

We’re going to need to tie up some knots in the strings of Emerson’s little swim bag, so that it doesn’t hang gown so low, past the back of her knees.

I took Emmie today, per her request, and Jeff took Addie. I really liked that actually, so I think we’ll try to switch it up like this the rest of the summer, since usually I take Addie and Jeff takes Emmie. It’ll be fun to change things up for a few months. We packed Emmie’s lunch and she took her giant water bottle, and Addie took her little water bottle she refers to as her “Stanley.” 🤣

Last week, my friend from college Maggie, shared a post of all of their dinners from the past week. They had Turkish pasta and it reminded me we hadn’t had it in a while, so obviously I had to immediately add it to this weeks’ meal plan. (I had actually ordered fresh mint leaves to add on top, but they came to me black instead of bright green, so obviously I didn’t get to try that out.) And also at Maggie’s suggestion, I made the garlic sauce using sour cream instead of Greek yogurt, and that really was a good call.

Now, the girls don’t eat the Turkish pasta, but they love plain butter noodles, and both of them did “clean bowl club” tonight! It took Addie longer, but she did eventually eat all of her noodles. We also finished watching “Dog Gone” on Netflix, and that was a very good little movie.

My sweet Emmie girl was very much worn out after her first day of summer camp, and fell asleep snuggled up next to me on the couch after the movie ended.

I very easily got Emmie moved to her bed, and just did prayers and lullabies to get her back to sleep. But Addie was still wired, and it took some extra chit-chat and cuddles with Daddy before she was finally calming down and getting ready to sleep.

Now that we have to send Emerson’s lunch with her every single day (which we’re not used to doing during school, since the cafeteria lunch is free), I’ll also have to get myself in the habit of making sure to wash her little bento box every night, since I always pack her lunch in that. So, I’m gonna go wash up some dishes, and listen to my audio book, and then crash, because I’m also super tired tonight.
