Stolen Shoes

I was a busy bee this morning – brewed a pot of coffee, packed Addie’s lunch, filled her water bottle, packed her snacks, picked out her outfit, took a shower, and put dinner in the crockpot. And I set out the sides so those would be ready too.

Jeff took both girls to school like usual today, and Addie had her favorite little giraffe “baby” buckled into her car seat.

Emmie is still working on getting used to her retainers and trying to close her mouth fully with them. It’s something she has to really work hard at right now while it’s so new, and she just hasn’t master it yet.

Today was National Daughter’s Day (or something like that), and we just so happened to be having a girls lunch today with me, Mama & Meg, so that was convenient! And then Bo came to switch cars with Meg, and decided he’d join in and eat with us as well. I literally never have lunch with him, so that was nice for a change!

While Emmie was working hard at gymnastics, I was busy getting started on my next library book.

Unfortunately, while Emmie was in class, someone stole her Crocs off the little wire shoe rack (why would people do such a thing!?), so she had to walk to the car barefoot. She was actually really upset about it, but I was being silly and trying to lighten the mood, and made her laugh for a photo. There’s always a slight possibility that someone took them on accident and they’ll get returned by the time we go back next Tuesday, but I’m honestly not optimistic it will turn out like that… 🙁

So tonight’s new crockpot recipe was for slow-cooker French onion chicken, and after it cooked all day (with the ingredients from above), you just top it with Swiss cheese to melt a little bit. So by the time Emmie and I got home from the gym, everything was ready. And although it was fine, it wasn’t great, and actually needed more flavor. Maybe it actually needed two of the Lipton soup mix packs? I don’t know, we probably won’t try to repeat it though, it just wasn’t really worth it… (And I don’t really even wanna eat the leftover bowl for lunch tomorrow either :/ )

We watched some Bluey, and then I read a book to Addison, and then moved to Emerson’s room for her bedtime routine. We read about 10 pages in our Harry Potter book, and then my girl was exhausted and fell asleep quickly.

Emerson’s mouth is still hurting today, but she did say it wasn’t as bad tonight as it was last night. We gave her some more Tylenol though, and she is attempting to sleep in the retainers tonight for the first time. Really hoping and praying it’s not too terrible for her, but if she wakes up in pain in the middle of the night, I’ll let her take them out again for the rest of the night…
