I was singing on the worship team today, so I went out to church in “feels-like-10-degree” weather to get that at 8am. That was so stinking crazy to me! (Yes, this screenshot was from when I woke up for a potty break at 4am, but the temp was still the same at 8am. Well actually, it was one degree colder at 8am!)

Since I came to church early for worship rehearsal, Jeff and the girls were left to their own devices to get dressed warm, since I hadn’t laid out any outfits for them. Well recently, we signed Emerson up for Messenger Kids, so she can chat with some of her church friends, and our family, and she sent me this while I was in rehearsal. I thought it was so cute at first, and then I was dying laughing by the end 🤣

Then during the service today, it was Vision Sunday, where we reflected back on all the amazing things God did in and through our church for 2025, and cast a vision forward to all the goals for 2026. We also highlighted some of our ministries, specifically the new prison ministry started this past year. They also had some “awards” to hand out for things like Deeper in Faith, Overcoming Challenges, Spiritual Heath, Legacy, Missions and Faithfulness. And then we were surprised when they called our names together for the Servant Heart award! Makes me feel loved, seen and appreciated to be acknowledged and affirmed this way by our church!

We did lunch with some of our friends at Firehouse, where Girl Emerson and Boy Emerson (YES! They’re both named Emerson!) continued trading their BGMC cards like they do in GC Kids.

After lunch, Jeff and Addie took a little nap, but Emerson and I had some work to do. I did take a little 30-minutes nap, but then her and I also worked on a school project for her, and got started on a church project for her, and also cleaned the living room. Then I laid out all these gifts to show off from Mama and Meg, which funny enough were all book-related items. Plus, the triplets made me some pictures, and also gave me some photos of themselves. And that puzzle wasn’t technically a birthday gift, but a friend at work gave it to me last week because she knows I love puzzles.

And apparently Emerson took this selfie on my phone at some point this afternoon, and I didn’t even know it until I downloaded the photos for this post tonight 😉

So tonight was our first night back in Connect Groups at church. I knew they were going to serve spaghetti tonight, so before we went I scrambled some eggs and added Emerson’s leftover steak last night, plus some cheese on top. I still had some green beans and salad when we got to church, but I was proud of myself for not eating the spaghetti, since I love pasta!

We had a good night in our groups getting things kicked back off for the semester, and the girls had fun playing with their friends in their classes. Addie was just so sassy on the way down the stairs, so cute and silly.

Emmie and I finished up her Black History Month cereal box, about her chosen figure, Simone Biles of course. One on side, she did a timeline of prominent events in Simone’s life, and the other side is how she’s changed the world. The back is a list of facts with some of Emmie’s cute drawings mixed in, and the front is custom name & tagline we worked on together and helped her create the printed image.

Bedtime came swift and easy for Emmie-cille, but Addie-Laur resisted through alllll the lullabies and took about 20-ish minutes to finally fall asleep.

Now, I need to go work on some Sunday night chores in order to get us ready for another week of school and work, so that the morning isn’t quite so chaotic. But then I also really need a pre-bedtime snack, since I ate such an early dinner so long ago.
