With the kitchen still an absolute disaster zone, we went out to pick up breakfast this morning for the easiest possible option. Emmie said she wanted chicken, so we got chicken! We actually got there before they even opened, and had to just sit in the drive-thru line for about five minutes.
But this chicken, egg & cheese bagel was absolutely delicious, and Emerson ate soooo good this morning! She ate 3 of her 4 chicken minis, plus her entire bottle of chocolate milk, while sweetly singing and dancing along to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
Then while Jeff and I painted the second coat of paint on the fronts & backs of the doors, and the fronts of the drawers, this girl just kicked back and watched Olaf’s holiday adventure short-movie thing.
Jeff had to leave to go help out with some computer/camera/livestream stuff at his dad’s church, so Emmie and I had a few hours of lazy-girl-play-time. We played “go to sleep” on the couch (which would have been better if she didn’t tell me the alarm was going off after only 3 seconds), and she “painted” a little bit, we had a tea party with our ice water (and she shared hers with Mickey), she jumped all over me like I was a jungle gym, she helped get her clothes out of the dryer (and so did Mickey), and then we also did some carport hangs with bubbles. (Can you tell she’s just all about Mickey Mouse today?!)
She and I both had a PB&J and chips for lunch, then I got her down for her nap. Sweet girl was exhausted after all the fun we had this morning, so she was really easy to get to sleep. I made myself a second iced coffee & wrote this first half of this blog, and then tidied up a little bit. (Our house has literally never been messier or more disheveled than it is right now, and while I’m mostly dealing with it, it’s definitely starting to drive me nuts.)
But this is looking better now!
My girl only napped for barely over an hour, and then she was ready to get busy playing again! She started out having another little tea party with these two baby dolls, with water and puffs, and then decided she wanted to pull out every single stuffed animal and lay in a giant pile of them. Meanwhile, I folded her load of clean clothes, then changed her sheets & vacuumed her room.
While Jeff got started on the yard work, Emmie and I picked up our Walmart grocery order, and then treated ourselves to a couple of slushies to share to keep us cool in the crazy heat. Then Emmie and I just sat and watched Daddy mow for a bit.
While we were sitting out in the carport, we saw a car pull up in our driveway, that we didn’t immediately recognize. But then we noticed it was Emmie’s Sunday school teacher Ms. Shirley and her husband Mr. Burt. They came by with a sweet little gift for Emerson (a beach pail and a few toys, and pair of pink fairy wings), and some of the lesson material from church. it was so sweet, and Emmie was so excited to see them! She didn’t want them to leave, but we’re hoping to see them again soon!
All three of us took turns bathing and showering while we baked a frozen pizza, and then we ate dinner in the living room, while watching another episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, which is obviously her newest obsession.
Jeff actually fell asleep in his recliner after eating, so Emmie and I did bedtime just us girls. She was so precious and sweet and loving, and we had a good, easy bedtime.
We ended up not getting as much done on the kitchen cabinet project today as we would have liked, but we’re planning to push hard to get all the upper doors primed & painted tomorrow. We’ll see how that goes I guess… Clearly, we’re exhausted after a good but busy Saturday, so it’s time for some rest and relaxation. Hoping we are very productive again tomorrow!
