This morning was our annual GC Kids Easter Egg hunt, and these cute girlies were all decked out and ready to go bright and early!
And Emerson ran straight to the Easter bunny as son as we got into the church! Addie just wanted to wave at him from afar, but never actually got to close to him.
Started off with worship and puppets and fun times in the sanctuary, before heading out for the main even out back! There were egg hunts (separated by age groups), bounce houses, face painting, a preschool area, a petting zoo, food trucks, and free popcorn & cotton candy. Emerson found the golden egg during her age group, and there was $20 inside!
We ate lunch from the food trucks there, then got Addie down for her nap, and I went back out to pick up our weekly grocery order. We came back and worked on chores around the house for a while, trying to knock out some stuff. While little Miss Pennie just lounged around on the couch.
Around mid-afternoon, Emmie and I went to meet up to pick up her best friend Daisy, for her first slumber party! Although I’m not quite ready to let Emmie sleep over at anyone else’s house yet, I told her we could definitely have a friend over to our house. Ever since we re-did her room with her new big girl bed, she’s been dying to have Daisy over. And tonight was finally the night!
Anyways, we picked Daisy up, and then we took a little trip to the small Goodwill book store to donate a giant bag of our old shoes, and of course had to go inside to look around. I found book 3.5 of the series I’ve been trying to collect, plus this beautiful Christmas puzzle. And I let the girls each pick out a couple of books too.
Addie was still sleeping when we got home, and the big girls went off playing on their own in Emmie’s room for a long time. Meanwhile, I made myself another blueberry coffee with a blueberry cold foam, and then had a few minutes to sit down and read, for maybe like 20 minutes.
Then I channeled my inner 90’s-slumber-party-girl (while also trying to be the cool slumber party mom), and made chicken nuggets with Velveeta shells & cheese (the real brand name, not even store brand!) for dinner, and brownies for dessert.
Jeff had been doing some yard work before and after dinner, so I helped him with like the tiniest thing, and Addie ran around with him for a bit, and the big girls played some more. Eventually it was time for jammies and brownies and Moana 2.
Daisy volunteered to read Addie’s bedtime book to her tonight, and Addison really loved that. Then Daisy made Addie’s bed for her, got it all set up and cute and turned down the comforter for her and everything. It was all very sweet and very cute.
After getting Addison to sleep, I let the big girls stay up late and watch tv together by themselves for a little bit. But by the time I finally put them to bed at 9pm, I said their prayers and we sang “Baby Mine,” and they were immediately and totally conked out. I took this screenshot from the camera a minute or two after leaving their room, and I’ve been watching them since then while writing this, and they haven’t moved a muscle, and it’s been almost 20 minutes! They really wore themselves out today.
And quite honestly, I’m worn out too! The girls were really easy tonight though, and it’s been fun having our first official sleepover. I have such special memories of sleepovers with my friends all throughout my school years, so I know these will be special memories for Emerson too!
