My baby Emmie was in a super great mood this morning, being so super cute and sweet. I also love this little outfit she wore today.
And here’s a conversation we had in the car on the way to school this morning:
Emmie: Why you didn’t bring the toast thing and give me bites?
Mom: Toast? I didn’t make any toast.
Emmie: I forget what it’s called. You take it and make it toast and then put the stuff on top and share it.
Mom: (thinking about it quietly for a minute….) Oh you mean a bagel?
Emmie: YEAH! why you didn’t bring a bagel?
Mom: Well, we don’t have any bagels right now.
Emmie: Can you get some?
So I added bagels to my grocery pick-up order for this weekend 🙂
This girl loves making silly faces. After she made this first one, I put my phone down, and she was like, “Wait, lemme make one more silly face.”
Before work this morning, I got beef Strogonoff going in the Crock-Pot for dinner, and boiled up a few eggs – a few for breakfast today, and the others to make egg salad, which Emerson specifically requested. At dinner last night, she was like, “Can I have some more salad?” I said, “We’re not having salad tonight little.” And she was like, “No I forget what’s called, the eggs one.” So of course I told her I could make her some more egg salad! I ate two eggs with toast, and then saved the rest to make egg salad with later.
I didn’t feel like eating or making anything at home for lunch today, so I ordered CFA on the app, and Jeff ran to pick it up for us. Oh also, since I have to get dressed every day to take Emmie to school, I’ve pretty much never worked-from-home in my jammies. But today, I just really felt like putting my penguin pj’s back on immediately after getting back home, and I stayed in them all day until I had to get dressed to pick her up again. And it was super comfy-cozy.
This little dog is just the cuddliest boy. He’s just looking so old these days, with all the white furs around his little snout and eyes.
Looks like Emmie and all her little friends had lots of fun at school today, and rounded out their first week in the new class on a good note.
Emerson said she didn’t want me to make dinner tonight, so Jeff and I did a little switch-a-roo, and I got to play with Tater Tot and sit on the couch, while Jeff boiled noodles, since that’s the only thing that was left to do 😉 She was being a pirate with this old paper towel roll, and then she did some couch-jumping and watching a little bit of the Charlie Brown movie.
Also, the quesadilla maker was still out on the counter from last night, and it was still a little sticky, because I hadn’t actually cleaned it yet… I started smelling this citrus smell, and went to figure out what it was, and found him wiping it down with Goo-Gone! I was like, “What the heck dude? That’s not food safe? How are we gonna get that off? We can’t submerge the thing in soapy water. What in the world do you use to Goo-Gone off?!” He realized he had made a small mistake, and started unscrewing the plates off the machine so we could indeed soak them in soapy water. Good grief. Men in the kitchen…
He did get dinner handle though, although he chose not to make broccoli for our veggie side, just because he wasn’t in the mood for broccoli. So, no veggies, but that’s alright 🙂
The meal was a hit, and all of us joined the clean plate club tonight! (You can tell one of us sopped up all the gravy with the last few bites of bread & butter, and one of us had a butter mustache.)
She randomly asked for skittles when we got home earlier, and since she ate every single bite on her plate, we decided to treat her. So even though we’re trying to keep ourselves in self-quarantine again for the most part (reminder – we all have to have negative covid tests for Emmie’s surgery), we all masked up and picked out a candy treat. And even with allllll of these choices, she held strong and ended up picking out Skittles.
And then she sauteed her Skittles in her skillet until they were cooked to perfection 😉
She went to the potty like a big girl, and washed her hands all by herself, and told me all about Miss Lindsey telling them to get their hands reallllyyyyy wet and then reallllyyyy bubbly, and then rinsing them off reallllyyyyy well.
Emerson was of course “not tired” at bedtime, and “didn’t need to sleep,” and really she just wanted to chit-chat for eternity. I reminded her that tomorrow is Saturday and we could have Mommy-Emmie talk allll day long, and she was very excited about that.
I treated myself to a couple of things lately (I typically overthink spending money, especially when it’s on stuff for myself), but I’d been thinking about one of these cute backpacks, and decided recently that it would be helpful while we’re in Jacksonville. Only one of us is allowed in the hospital at a time, so we’re going to rotate in and out in shifts. So this little backpack will be helpful to throw in a change of clothes, a toothbrush and a book, for when it’s my turn to pull and overnight shift.
So anyways, I saw it on a good deal on Pick Your Plum (a daily deals site), and scooped it up, with free shipping! And I pre-ordered this new book from The Lazy Genius that just came out a couple of days ago, and was finally delivered today. We also got a few more cards from friends & family, and another Venmo surprise! (Thank you to the Bryant’s, Aunt DB, Libby, the Gunter’s, Mylinda, Todd & Maggie!)
Jeff and I are moving right along in the Marvel series, so we’re starting on Iron Man 3 tonight.
