Sherbet Skies

We had a very early grocery pickup first thing this morning, so we sent Daddy to get that for us. Then we had some cereal for breakfast, and Emerson got very busy making some little rubber band braided bracelets. She’s had this kit for over a year, but we couldn’t figure out how to do it. But this past week at school, a friend showed her, and now she’s a pro!

We then spent about two hours doing chores around the house – all the usual stuff like starting new loads of laundry, washing dirty dishes, vacuuming the living room, tidying the living room, and folding loads of clean clothes. While we were washing dishes, Emerson said she was getting hungry, and that’s when we realized it was already noon, and we needed some lunch. So we ordered the new pretzel bun sandwiches from Chick-fil-A, and sent Jeff to pick up the food. I sat down and turned on “The Sound of Music” to watch while I folded clothes, and the girls were playing in their “fort” behind the sliding door curtains.

When he got back with the food, we left the movie playing. At first, Emerson was like, “I don’t wanna watch this, I don’t like it.” But I was like, “Nah girl, just sit down you’re gonna love it.” And of course once she got into it, she was absolutely loving it, just like I knew she would! And that pretzel bun was really delicious too.

We finished cleaning up after lunch, and then got dressed finally, and packed up some bags for the road. We made a quick trip to the library to drop off some books, and also pick up some books I had on hold. Then obviously I needed some caffeine, so we went through the 7Brew drive-thru for a yummy snickerdoodle macchiato.

I’ve had way too many library holds come in all at the same time recently, and I haven’t actually been able to read them all. In addition to these four I picked up today, I still had five more at home. I’m doing the best I can though, to read as much as possible!

After whining about how not tired she was for the first 20 minutes of our ride across town, Addison finally fell asleep during the last 10 minutes on our way to Grammy’s house.

And even though it was very cloudy and overcast, we had a little bit of fun out in the pool for a while, before the thunder started sounding a bit too close for comfort…

Then we enjoyed some quiet time just hanging out in the afternoon, in our cozy clothes, playing some games and watching tv while it rained outside.

Eventually, Mama and I got up and made dinner together. I made my typical breakfast casserole, with sausage this time, and she made homemade biscuits and cheese grits. Breakfast for dinner is always a hit with our family.

We stayed a little longer after dinner, watching some food travel shows, and Addie fed the dear and was very sweet and excited about it. She was also very proud of how quiet she stayed while watching them, and kept telling us how quiet she was when she came back inside.

We wanted to show Jeff the fancy Little Free Library the girls and I discovered in the fancy neighborhood a few weeks ago, and both girls lucked out again with a few good books.

And look at this sky showing off tonight! You can kinda tell by the pink-ish coloring in the picture of the girls above that the sky was different tonight, but once we rounded the corner and finally had a clear view out from behind the trees, it was so beautiful! Jeff said it looked like sherbet skies.

And sweet baby sis was just reading her “new” books all the way home.

She was the most exhausted tonight, and after an episode of Bluey, I read her new Daniel Tiger book to her, and she was out like a light in about 10 minutes after that…

Emerson needed some extra snuggles tonight, but we did eventually get her to sleep as well. I’m gonna grab a little sweet treat, and my water, and my Kindle, and cozy up on the couch for a bit before bedtime.
