Second Grade Memories

Little cuties on a manic Monday morning! We all four went in one car, dropped off both girls, and then I dropped off Jeff and all his luggage at Avis Car rental, because he was on his way to a conference for work!

Today was our little bi-monthly unit lunch, and Brooke chose to go to Pedro’s right down the street from us, and we ate delicious Mexican food and had fun chatting and catching up. We also got a super cute group photo today!

Finally got around to sharing my April reading wrap-up today, now that we’re nearing the second half of May…

For dinner tonight, I just baked a pre-made ham & Swiss quiche from Aldi. While that was baking, I washed up some leftover dishes from the weekend. I then cut up some fresh strawberries and sliced & toasted some leftover biscuits from Grammy’s house, and that was an extra simple dinner that the girls both loved, for tonight’s first night of solo-parenting.

And we continued our High School Musical viewing party, by watching the first half of movie number two in the living room while we ate dinner.

Last week, Emerson’s teacher sent home lots of fun projects and goodies and reports from the year, but we didn’t look at it over the weekend. Tonight, we started looking through some of it, and this little book of second grade memories is so awesome! I love all the cute things she wrote, and I love seeing how much she learned and grew through the year. I could tell a difference in not only her penmanship, but also her actual writing skills, from the first page to the last, and there are just so many cute things. This will definitely be something we cherish forever. And here are a few of my favorite pages!

You can see the progression of her teeth and smile in these photos 🤣

I love this self-portrait she did, with the bright blue eyes and choker, and even the cherry soda t-shirt that she actually owns.

My little bookworm, following in her Mama’s steps, with a little book review. And a Beverly Cleary book was such a great choice!

She wrote a great little essay about dogs being the best pets, and drew a great little picture of herself and Pennie!

This FLORIDA acrostic poem is my absolute fave of the bunch. I legitimately want to re-make this as some fancy home decor or something and put it up in the house, because it’s so perfect and cute!

So for bedtime tonight, since Jeff wasn’t home and wasn’t going to be able to do Addie’s bedtime, we did the whole routine all together, in my bed, rather than in the girls’ separate rooms. But everything went really well and really smooth, and I was able to get both girls sound asleep with no trouble tonight!

I left them both there sleeping in my bed, and I might try to move them both to their own beds later, or I might just leave them there and try to sleep with them all together… We’ll see how sprawled out they are later, and make the decision when it’s time for me to lie down.
