I made a mini breakfast casserole this morning, based on things I just happened to have on hand already. The last five eggs, a mix of two cheeses, and some of the good bacon bits. And it turned out yummy and was just enough.

We started on some chores early today after breakfast, but just a little bit before we ran out to do a few quick errands. Starbucks first (on my gift card still!) for an iced shaken oatmilk brown sugar espresso (phew, long name), which was very yummy. We then took a load of donations to the thrift store, then ran to the Dollar Tree, and to Walmart to pick up our groceries.

When we got back home, we got all the food put away, and then we worked hard and steady on just cleaning up the house. Things have been so busy for a few weeks that the whole house was just a big cluttered mess. So we worked hard getting things put back where they belong and tidying up, and just generally doing as much work as we could.
We had leftovers for lunch (carnitas burrito bowls that I made Thursday night; I took the night off blogging then, just for a break) and then did some more cleaning. We went out for a quick mini walk with Pennie girl to visit our neighbors who are moving away in the next week or two.

I needed some rest time after all that, because I needed to lay on the heating pad in the recliner. I actually woke up this morning with my back just feeling tweaked, and I have no idea why. But it’s been bothering me all day! So we had some quiet rest time for about 30 minutes – I read, Emmie read a little, and Addie did this watercolor painting, while Jeff practiced his Spanish on Duolingo. (He was working on Russian/Romanian before his trip to Moldova, but switched over to Spanish because those others were just way too hard!)

We gathered up some things and loaded up in the car (and loaded up another pile of things to drop off at the donation center) and then headed u to Havana for dinner with Nana and PopPop. And wouldn’t you know it, tiny sister fell asleep in the car on the way up there.

And we found another Little Free Library in Havana tonight too! There are only two in the tiny town, one at the playground (which we’ve already visited a few times), and this one at Stone’s Home Center right as you get into town.

Addie didn’t wake up at the LFL, and she didn’t wake up when we parked at their house. So Jeff just stayed in the car while she got another 5-10 minutes of rest.

The girls played out in the backyard, I sat and read my book for a bit, and Nana grilled burgers and sausage dogs on the Blackstone on the back porch. I just helped with the cheese 😉

Then Nana showed us all of the beautiful shells she bought from the fancy stores down on her trip to Key West a couple of weeks ago. Her family up in West Virginia wanted some genuine Florida shells, so she got the super fancy ones for them. Then she got that giant bag of the pink & purple scallop shells to keep though, and we were discussing fun ways to craft with them or things to make with them, and now I’m excited for a little seashell project.

We had a little bit more time outside in the backyard and then the girls got cleaned up in the bathtub. Then, Nana had three options for dessert (cake, cookies & ice cream), and the girls both chose all three options, for a little triple dessert bowl. I personally went for the chocolate cake with the chocolate fudge icing which was delicious.

We stayed a little longer than we should have (like we mostly always do), so the girls were super tired by the time we made it home. We went straight to getting them into bed, but it was not without a few tears… I’m heading to take another dose of ibuprofen and sit on the heating pad again, before laying down for the night.
