We had to eat a big breakfast, to prepare for a big day full of lots of work and play. So I made egg & cheese sandwiches, and added the leftover bacon from a couple of nights ago, and it was delicious!
Dave came and picked up Jeff and they went to Home Depot together, and Jeff bought a new giant ladder for all sorts of projects he wants to work on, plus a new project at their house today. They also picked up some Donut Kingdom on the way through town, and Emerson was all about a second breakfast.
While the girls played a little, we went over to Dave & Nita’s church to do a little recon/research on how this rope swing was hung, because Nita bought one for their house and that was our project for the day… So we had to test it out ourselves, just to make sure 😉
While Jeff was working, he said, “I really feel like an adult now, after buying this fancy ladder.” I was like, “Oh really? After buying multiple cars, owning a home, and having three of your own children? Buying a ladder is what finally did it?” And he said yes. Hahaha 🙂
It took about 45 minutes, trying to get it at the right height and make sure it was super tight and secure. Then Jeff and I tested this one too just to make sure, before we called the girls back to play on it too. And everyone loved it!
We somehow got Emerson to nap for about an hour, in the upstairs bedroom at Nana’s house, and then she was ready to play some more with the big girls.
Late lunch after swimming time.
After all of Jeff’s hard work (he also chopped down a tree with a machete, Paul Bunyan style, he said, and did some more yard work), he fell asleep in the hammock for about an hour or more.
Working on that same donut from earlier this morning…
And working on drawing some lines.
Nana offered to make a pan of homemade lasagna, so of course we stayed for dinner! I threw together a salad and made some garlic bread, and everything was super delicious!
And then we had to spend a little bit more time outside after dinner. I think we were outside literally all day, except for bathroom breaks and dinner, and it was so nice!
Emerson took a bath at Nana’s house with Andersen (after a small breakdown because she hadn’t peed alllll day, and was scared to pee in the bath), and then we loaded up and headed back home.
Jeff was mowing the front yard really quickly, so Emmie put on her headphones so we could go out and wave goodnight to him, and she was so excited and precious about watching him.
She did better at bedtime tonight, and I didn’t even have to go back into her room once I laid her down. She was exhausted after playing so hard with the big girls all day long! And so are we! Jeff just finished out front, so he’s coming inside to shower, and then we’ll probably watch tv for a little bit before we both crash too.
