Emerson woke up early as usual, a little before 7am, so Jeff got up with her today. I tried to sleep a little longer, but I couldn’t, so I ended up getting at 7:30am. Nana came to pick up Jeff for a trip to Home Depot, so Emmie and I made a bowl of oatmeal to share.
I folded a large load of her clean laundry, and she played in her kitchen, and then packed a bag for Nana’s house, while giving me the commentary about it the whole time, telling me all the things she was packing. It was super cute actually.
And then she made a cozy little cuddle nook inside her clothes hamper, complete with two blankets, two (or maybe three) animals and a pillow. This girl is so silly!
We got out the eggs I boiled yesterday, and I taught her how to peel them. It took her about five minutes to get just one half-peeled, but she was very intent and focusing so hard, and just really precious about it. Then she helped me make our egg salad, and taste-tested a big giant bite, and then proceeded to clean out the last tiny bits of the relish jar with her hands 🙂
While Jeff was outside mowing the front yard, a nice lady from Dave & Nita’s church brought by a gift for Emerson. Jeff came in waving it around, so there was no hiding it and putting it away for Jacksonville. So she got to open it up right before lunch, and it actually worked out, because it was a tiny unicorn backpack she can pack up to take on the road trip!
Inside were two books and one nightgown, and the nightgown had Elsa on it!
Girlfriend ate a great lunch, finished her whole sandwich, and her and I both joined the clean plate club.
We cuddled with Pretzel in the chair in the dining room for a few minutes, and watched Daddy walk back & forth mowing the front yard. And then I got her down for nap time.
While she napped and Jeff kept working in the yard, I washed dishes, cleaned the kitchen, cleaned the living room, started a load of clothes, and folded a load of our clean clothes that’s been sitting in the basket in the living room for over a week. (Yikes.) And good grief, I think we’re finally gonna get around to painting that stupid window frame tomorrow.
After Emerson woke up from her nap, and Jeff got all cleaned up from his yard work, we headed over to his parents’ house. He helped install some under-cabinet lighting in their kitchen (and now I really want some for our house), and Emmie had some fun in the water on the back porch.
Nana got this fun little water coloring book for Emmie as a potty prize, for all the great work she’s been doing with her potty training this past week!
And Nana made us an amazing dinner – pork loin, homemade mac & cheese, corn, salad, and yeast rolls. Very yummy!
Nana got Emmie dressed in her jammies, and they cuddled and read books together, that Emmie had packed in her bag herself this morning.
She got a little crazy after that (if you follow me on Instagram, you can see some funny videos on my stories), and was literally running circles all over their house screaming “super hero” and laughing like crazy. She cried when we had to leave Nana’s house, and that we forgot to grab her one more soft peppermint from the bowl on the coffee table.
And even though it was about an hour past her bedtime, she still “wasn’t tired,” so she was still a little tricky to get to bed, but still super sweet and cuddly.
We had a really great day family day today, and I’m looking forward to another great family day tomorrow! It’s almost 10pm now, so I doubt we’ll watch a movie, but maybe just one quick episode of “Parks & Rec” before bedtime.
