Jeff and I both took the day off work today, so that we could have a day to take Ryan (and the girls obviously) on a beach trip while he’s here this week. We packed up all our usual stuff, and hit the road to our favorite spot, the state park on St. George Island!
We got there right at noon, so we had our ham & swiss sandwiches up at the picnic tables by the parking lot, so we could eat before getting sandy. We also put our sunscreen on u here too, before we got sandy.
On a few of our beach trips this summer, we’ve had crazy strong wind and waves, and had a hard time fighting the waves just to hang out in the water. Today was perfectly calm & still though, and the water was still nice and cool, and it was perfect and beautiful!
Right before 3pm we started feeling a few sprinkles. So we packed everything up in a rush while the rain started, and headed up to get rinsed off and changed. It started thundering and lightning while we were in the bathrooms changing clothes, so we hurried as much as we could, and made it back to the car to get all the stuff packed and get ourselves loaded back up. The girls were cold from the cold rain, and immediately got cozied up in their soft pink blankies.
Then we went back to the Blue Parrot, for another delicious seafood “dinner” at 4pm. It was storming super bad, but there were plenty of seats under the giant covered porch, and the rain cooled off the super hot temps, so it actually felt super great and we had a nice meal. I got the same fish tacos I had back in June (plus the same coconut lime frozen smoothie drink thing), and it was just as yummy today.
We had an easy little drive back home, stopped a few times for gas and potty breaks, and got home right at 7pm. I got the girls into the bathtub while Jeff and Ryan unloaded the car, and then started up a load of towels and clothes and bathing suits in the washing machine. Jeff and I took turns showering, and then we got the girls into bed, and now it’ll be Ryan’s turn to shower, and if they’re any hot water left, I need to wash some dishes…
