Love these cute girls, and their cute matchy-matchy dresses before church this morning.
Showing of the new sparkly sandals to Aunt Meggie.
Then after a great church service this morning, we had a yummy lunch at Relish Burger before heading home for nap time.
Jeff worked on the computer, I watched a show and then fell asleep in the recliner, Emerson slept a little over an hour, and Addison slept about an hour and a half. Then the girls and I got up and ready and loaded up in the car, to meet my friend Britteny and her daughter Elly for a park play date.
But just a few minutes away from the house, the car started driving really weird, and the check engine light was flashing, and I didn’t feel comfortable driving it, especially not 25 minutes across town. So we turned around and went home. Jeff was supposed to be going to help an older family friend with her computer, but luckily he hadn’t left yet, so he cancelled with her, to take a look at my car. Turns out it needed a new spark plug, or some other word I can’t remember, but once he replaced it, and took it for a test drive, it was running better.
While he was doing all of that though, the girls and I played in the backyard for a little bit. It was nice and windy and very warm, and I read about four whole pages of my new Kindle book.
We then moved back into Addison’s room to play, and the girls made a bit of a mess with all the toys and blankets. And then I decided I would immerse myself in rotating out some of Emerson’s old hand-me-down’s for Addison now that she’s grown into 18-month-size clothes.
The girls were mostly running wild up and down the hallway and all over the house while I worked on this project for about an hour or so, but they were entertained and I was productive, and I did finally get it all taken care of. I put away “new” stuff in Addie’s dresser, rearranged some things that are still too big for her, and packed up some boxes of stuff that’s too tiny for her now, to donate. And then I got her room cleaned up and back in order again.
Then it was time to cook dinner – so Jeff took care of the girls, while I cooked some chicken first (air-roasted in the air-fryer), and then made BBQ chicken & bacon pizzas (I always make two, one with the veggies only on half for the girls, so we can have leftovers), with side salads, for our dinner. This first picture is with all the toppings but without the cheese, just because I thought it looked so pretty with all the veggies and such.
We didn’t do a whole lot around the house today on our to-do list, but I was able to scratch off just a few more things. I always make our weekend lists way too full, with way more stuff than we could finish in two days, but I’m still glad of the things we were actually able to accomplish. Like, finally finishing washing alllll of the dishes.
Both girls were a little worn down and grumpy by dinner time, so we started on an early bedtime tonight, and luckily, they were both calm and quiet by 8pm, and Addie was asleep an in her bed by 8:15, and Emmie was totally asleep just a few minutes later.
Well actually, I thought she was asleep, but literally as I typed that last sentence, she wandered into the front room where I’m typing this, asking me to come love her in her room again. Apparently, she had been snuggling with Daddy in the living room while I was writing this post, when I thought she had been asleep that whole time. But she’s off to her bedroom now, so I’ve gotta go give her one more hug and kiss before she’ll hopefully fall asleep.
