The morning started off with Addie coming into my room saying, “Mama, I can’t find Emmer?!” I had to remind her she was having her sleepover with Grammy and wasn’t at home… Emmie helped Grammy work on organizing and prepping some things she’s gotten on clearance lately, for next year’s Operation Christmas Child boxes.

Addie and I had leftover grits and sausage from yesterday’s breakfast for today’s breakfast, and then just lazed around for a while. It was dark and rainy and I just couldn’t help falling back to sleep on the couch for a little bit. Nana came over around 11am, and she helped me clean up Addie’s room, while Jeff worked on folding laundry. Around noon, Nana had to head out, and Addie and I met up with Grammy, Papa & Emmie at Hopkins for lunch. Always my fave sandwich spot in town.

On the way home, I needed to stop and get a large iced latte from 7Brew, to fuel up for this afternoon’s major project. We always save Emmie’s clothes for hand-me-down’s for Addie, but we hadn’t rotated all the tubs of stuff around in a long while. (I don’t know what other people call this process, but I’ve always called it “rotating clothes.) A few days ago, I started this round of the process by cleaning out Emmie’s drawers, and stacking up some of her 5/6T clothes. Then today, we went through like six of these storage tubs, FULL of clothes from infant and up… I had just put away tons of baby clothes as Addie grew out of them, and never gotten rid of anything. We also hadn’t actually pulled out any of Emmie’s old clothes for Addie in a while, so there was just a LOT to go through.

I set aside two full tubs worth of stuff and posted it on Facebook Marketplace, in an attempt to earn a little bit of New Year’s cash. Does anyone need tiny baby girl clothes, size infant through about 9 months? I listed it as $50/tub, or $80 for everything, and I have two tubs’ worth of clothes.

Here’s Addie’s closet all finished up now, with three more tubs of clothes for her to grow into, and a whole tub of shoes. But I still have more stuff to hang up, that’s currently just all piled up in two piles in her room.

And these are the shoes that are already too small for Addie, but are basically brand new, that I listed on Facebook Marketplace too. A few pairs still have the tags on and have never been worn.

While Emmie and I finished up up in Addie’s room (I promised her a fancy drink the next time we went through a 7Brew or something, as a treat for all of her help today), Jeff and Addie ran to Home Depot and Walmart for a couple of returns and such.

On our way out to Nana’s house, we stopped by the library to drop-off a couple of books we needed to return. We let Emmie run up to the return slot on her own, in the rain, and she was so giggly and silly running back to the car.

We went out to Nana’s house again tonight, and she and I put together another slightly hodge-podge dinner for all of us. But it was all yummy!

Nana gave the girls one more Christmas present tonight, a little mini karaoke machine with two tiny microphones, and they loved playing with that for a long time tonight, putting on a little show for us! They sang a mix of Forest Frank, Jonas Brothers, Dolly Parton & what Addie calls “Mountain Mama.” (Which is “Country Roads, Take Me Home,” by John Denver, which has learned almost all of the words to lately.)

They had a bath over at Nana’s house before heading back home, and then they were both so tired they fell asleep in the car. They went straight to their beds when we got home, and they both easily fell asleep after just one song in the lullaby playlist.
I’m exhausted from all of the work rotating the girls clothes today (which is another thing I can check off my January projects list already), but I still want to work on my little wintry puzzle a bit before bedtime. This is how I left it last night, but tonight I’m still going to try to do a little bit more before crashing into bed…

A few months ago, I read “A Good Girls’ Guide to Murder,” and now I’m watching the Netflix series, and it’s really good so far. I think the show might actually be better than the book.
