Cute little baby girl was happy as a clam this morning, and was even excited about going to school! I hate that I’m away from her so much because of work, but at least I know she loves her teachers and has fun at school during the day.
And this photo is when she spotted Ms. Q walking inside and got excited to see her, so she wanted me to scoop her up so we could chase after her for a hug 🙂
For lunch, I had yellow rice & black beans leftover from dinner last night, topped with salsa & sour cream. We used to eat this simple meal a lot growing up, and it always brings me back to my childhood whenever I eat it like this all on it’s own. Easy, cheap & filling! (I even remember the exact colorful, square plastic plates we used to have too!)
She had a good day at school, and her report said she was a happy girl!
Last night, as I was washing the dishes, I couldn’t remember what was on the meal plan for tonight’s dinner. So I pulled up the menu in my note’s app, but it was blank for tonight! And then I remembered when I was meal-planning & grocery-ordering last week, I didn’t exactly finish, and just left Friday blank! So we didn’t have anything planned tonight, so we decided to meet up at Whataburger to use some coupons we had. And this girl loves a cheeseburger!
She’s also the silliest! While we were cleaning up our table and throwing away our trash, she was playing with this little display card, wearing it as a hat, and using it as a view-finder.
And also as we were cleaning up, I saw a man digging through the outdoor trash can, in the rain, most likely looking for food. And it broke my heart. Jeff went outside to check on him, and we bought him a huge meal. Jeff stayed and chatted with him for about 15 minutes, and asked if he could pray for him. It was really sweet, and I was very proud of him.
Jeff stayed chatting with the man, Dennis, for a bit, so Emmie and I headed home. We were playing around on our bed and she was bouncing around like crazy. Then when Jeff got home, he came back to our room & Pretzel ran after him. Pretzel was so excited, he peed on our bed. Womp womp womp. Luckily though, it was only on the sheets & quilt, and didn’t go through to the mattress. So we immediately stripped the bed, to throw them in the wash. But Emmie loved the stripped mattress, and was bouncing and jumping and flipping around like it was her own personal gymnastics arena. She jumped and flipped for like 15 minutes, while I sang “ring around the rosie,” and she kept falling down.
And then she needed a treat from the seemingly never-ending bucket of candy snacks. Followed by playing and reading and coloring and watching a little bit of “Coco” before bedtime.
And then we finally convinced her it was late and time to put on her jammies. She was just being so silly and cute and she was still all wired up. But I eventually calmed her down, and we watched a couple night-night videos, and went back to the living room to get hugs from Daddy, and then we found & put on her slippers, and phew I think that was all the things.
We had to repeat the final lullaby song (as is the usual lately), but then I laid her down and scratched her back while singing “Jesus Loves Me.” And I’m sure no one could guess what comes next… Unless you guessed hot tea and tv shows, because you’d be dead on. Super excited about our three-day weekend now!
