Retirement Service

I brought the girls to church this morning, and Emerson had a special breakfast with her school teacher. My parents actually made the breakfast for everyone (three huge hash brown breakfast casseroles, biscuits and gravy, fruit and juice), so Addie and I snuck into the kitchen for a little breakfast snack, before I took her up to her preschool class.

Then after Jeff and I got dressed and ready, and the boys were ready to go, we actually headed over to Jeff’s parents church, for his dad’s retirement service. He’s been serving in ministry in some way or another for like 45 years or something, and at this particular church for almost 20 years. Jeff’s brothers sand a special worship song medley, and their church recognized his parents with gifts and flowers and sashes.

For the final song at the end of the service, Dave called Nita and his three sons back up on stage with him to sing together, and I think everyone got a little misty-eyed.

There was a giant church lunch in the gym afterwards, with tons of food and stories and desserts and old photos.

We all went back to Nana & PopPop’s house together after church and lunch, and spent hours just talking and laughing and hanging out and keeping the girls entertained. Plus coffee and leftover cake from lunch.

Throughout the afternoon, family members started trickling out to head back home. Greg left from the church to drive back to Nashville. Hope, Robbie & their son Braden left around 4ish to drive back to Tifton. Gabe & Ryan left around 6:30 to drive back to South Carolina. So by dinner time, we were down to our family of four, plus Jeff’s younger brother Brad, and his parents. We had grilled cheese and salad and veggies with ranch, and then got the girls into their jammies before heading home.

Yesterday was crazy busy and super fun; today was much more chill and filled with lots more family time. Thankful for such a great weekend all around!
