PSL Season

I still have some money on my Starbucks gift card in my app, so I treated myself to another one of those yummy bacon croissant sandwiches, and my first pumpkin spice latte of the season! (I texted Jeff that it was a PSL, and he was like, “Uhhh Pacific Ssss What??” He had no idea! 🤣

Jeff had a slightly rough morning with the girls in the car on the way to school, but he was able to get everyone calmed down and happy by drop-off time. But part of that process also meant taking Emmie for a special gas station breakfast sandwich, just like they used to do last year when it was just the two of them every morning.

I finished this audio book today, but was honestly less-than-impressed. I am a huge fan of Ruth Ware, and listen to every single one of her books, because I also love the narrator that has done all of them. But this one was a sequel to her wildly popular “Woman in Cabin 10” which was amazing, but I don’t think we really needed a sequel…

Meggie picked me up from work today, for us to go meet Mama for lunch at Huey Magoo’s. Meg and I both ordered the buffalo chicken wrap, and it was really super good.

Jeff picked up pizza for us for dinner tonight, so we ate quickly while watching “The Jungle Book.” Then Jeff took Pennie to the doggie boarding place, for her to spend the weekend playing with other doggies and swimming in the bone-shaped doggie swimming pool!

Back at home, the girls and I were packing up their little suitcases, and my trusty Vera Bradley duffel bag, getting ourselves ready for a little mini vacay out of town this weekend. For the past few years, we’ve taken a little family vacay over Labor Day Weekend, as a way to celebrate the anniversary of Emerson’s open-heart surgery, which was on September 2nd, back in 2020.

So this year, we’re going to St. Simon’s Island, staying at Epworth by the Sea, which is a beautiful Methodist retreat-type center, that also has a building they operate as a “regular” hotel. It’s incredibly affordable (especially in such a typically expensive area/town), so it’s gonna be a great place for us to stay, without breaking the bank. My parents actually found the place last year, and recommended we stay there this year, and we’re really looking forward to our time away!

I got the girls in the bath tub and got them ready for bed. Then I jumped in the shower as well, while they packed up a gillion can tabs. Because on our way to St. Simon’s Island tomorrow, we’re going to stop through Jacksonville at the Ronald McDonald house to drop them off, where we stayed for Emmie’s surgery back then. We did a little more packing, and then it was Jeff’s turn to shower, while I read Addie a book, and Emmie read her book to herself.

We’ve gotten about 80% of our stuff all packed and ready, and we’ll finish a little more tonight, and then all the final, last-minute things in the morning. We’re gonna try to be up and out of here pretty early, so we can hit the road and make the most of our long holiday weekend getaway! I’ll be back here to post about our trip on Monday night. Please pray for our safe travels and a fun mini vacay! 🙂
