Emerson was so excited to see Ms. Q back at school again! She barely even noticed when it was time for me to leave!
Ms. Q was getting some chalk down the littles to play with (they have a small chalk wall in their classroom), and as Emerson got her piece and turned around to walk over there, she tripped and fell and banged her forehead on the floor. I was still in the room, but on the other side, but it was terrible seeing her fall! She of course started screaming crying, but Ms. Q picked her back up, and took her to get a bag of ice. I got to hold her and loved her a little bit more before I left, and I got her to calm down some. She was pitiful, and I hated to leave her like that!
But soon after, I got these photos in the parent app, with the caption, “She is all better after our ice trip.” So then Mommy felt better too.
Now let’s take a trip down memory lane, to see all the pictures that popped up in Facebook memories today.
This is me, Megan and my cousin Aaron with my Grandmommie, when I was probably about 4 years old, Megan would have been 1 year old, and Aaron was maybe 6 months old? (Those are just guesses based on looking at this.) Check out my “Dorothy Hamill haircut!” That’s literally what it was, and that’s what I always called it. Google it.
Two years ago, these four amazing women from my church choir hosted the most beautiful baby shower ever for Emerson!
One year ago, my girl was almost too big for her baby swing, and later that morning she wore a dress with fairy wings to church, and we took photos with my grandmother’s quilt I had just recently inheritted.
Here are a few more photos from school today.
On my lunch break, I returned a couple of books to the library, and laid my 3-day-late fee of 30¢.
Then I decided I needed some fresh air and time in the great outdoors, so I took my lunch and ate at the park under beautiful live oak trees, which are my absolute favorite. I had my own private alfresco lunch, and it was really quite lovely. (Phrases like “really quite lovely” can really only be said about a few things {unless you are Anne Shirley}, and this is one of them.)
After school, Little Miss Independent was marching out of school sippin’ on her ice water, until we got back to the book fair in the lobby. That thing is gonna kill us coming & going every day, because my baby bookworm wants all the books. And I don’t blame the girl, but Mama ain’t made outta money!
We had chicken & cheese taquitos and yellow rice for dinner. Emerson ate her entire plate, plus another helping of rice. This girl loves her rice!
After dinner it was her bath time. She picked up her tub of bath toys, but instead of dumping it out, she just threw the whole thing in! Which she thought was hilarious of course.
And then, about 30 seconds into bath time, she started screaming bloody murder for absolutely no reason, and acting terrified. it was like that time she pooped in the bathtub and freaked out, except she hadn’t done that tonight. I talked to her and tried to soothe her and calm her down, but she was just freaking out. But since she was messy from dinner, and have been running around outside for a few days, she definitely needed a bath. So we pushed through and I did the fastest bath possible, while she was still freaking out. The second I finished rinsing her, I scooped her up and wrapped her in a towel, and she instantly stopped crying. And then she was completely fine after that! I never figured out why she was acting so crazy though, so who knows what that was about.
I got her dressed in her jammies, and she helped me put her night time lotion on by rubbing it on her belly herself. And then to give her a little reward from the traumatic bath time, I made her a cup of her favorite pink milk, which she hasn’t had in a while. She was super excited about it, and loved sitting there drinking her milk while daddy read her bedtime books.
and then I went back out in the front yard to work some more on our garden bed! it seems like taking River, but since I can only work for about 30 or 40 minutes a night at most before it’s dark, it’s taking a lot of days to get it done. But I got a lot done tonight, and things are looking really good. The rosemary bush needed a lot of trimming and pruning, because there was a lot of dead branches underneath that needed to be removed. But now it’s looking much better, and it should be healthier now as well.
And since I had multiple people tell me that bull I found the other day was actually a flower, I planted it in some new soil and a little pot tonight. I wanted it really well and left it on the front porch so it can get some sun tomorrow. And I guess we’ll just see how it does!
After finishing outside, I washed the dishes and cleaned the kitchen and put away the leftovers, and finished my audio book.
All this spring cleaning lately has got me working really hard, but I also feel very productive, and it’s a satisfied kind of exhausted at the end of the day. And if I can just toot my own horn a little, I’m proud of all the work I’ve been doing!
