Emmie woke us up around 6:30am today, and I could barely keep my eyes open laying on the couch with her. Luckily, she as very calm and quiet and kept herself entertained, watching “Aristocats,” coloring, eating dry cereal, and working on her flower garden.
Jeff was on camera duty at church today, so it was just Emmie and I at home for the morning. I made an iced coffee and she played kitchen in her room. She kept making me fresh pots of coffee, but at one point she poured (pretend) ketchup in my coffee, so I’m not sure she’ll be a full-time barista anytime soon…
She wrapped herself up in her mermaid fitted sheet, and told me she was waddling like a penguin. Then she laid down with one of the penguins cuddled up inside the sheet, and just hung out there for a while.
I asked if I could fix her crazy, messy hair, but she wasn’t into it. I told her she could have the last tiny sip of my coffee if she let me do her hair, and then she was all about it! She picked out the hair clip, and then let me do a ponytail with it.
After LOTS of play time in her room, doing almost all the things we possibly could, we spent some time cuddled up on the couch watching Blippi. She’s not still for much in life, but she will sit still watching Blippi for a very long time!
That is, until it’s time to get up and do a bumble bee dance!
She ate cheese noodles for lunch, and then napped for almost two hours. Jeff brought home lunch for us, and then I showered & napped for about an hour while he played video games. when Emerson woke up, we got re-dressed and ready to go to and headed to Nana & PopPop’s house. All of Nana’s plants are growing like crazy, so full and lush and beautiful this summer!
She played in her pool on the back porch while Nana and I watched, and she wet our feet for us to help keep us cool. Nana’s birthday was a few days ago, so we ordered a nice take-out meal from Carrabba’s, and all ate dinner together to celebrate.
Oh, and she had her bath in the pool out back.
I got fancy tonight and ordered the shrimp & scallop linguine, and dang it was good! I only ate half of it (it was a huge portion), and I saved half for lunch later this week. Also, that Caesar salad was literally the best I’ve ever had. I think next time, I’m going for the full-sized dinner portion Caesar salad with shrimp, because dang that was such a good salad.
Nana got some really pretty balloons from one of her friends, and she told Emerson she could bring them home if she would just go pee on the potty. And even though she was super interested in the balloons, she wouldn’t go. So the balloons stayed at Nana’s house…
She’s wearing a new pair of jammies tonight, and she looks so pretty in pink! I try to dress her in a diversely colored wardrobe (lots of colors) so she’s not wearing bubble-gum-pink every single day. But she really does look so pretty in pink!!
She was sweet at bedtime, and we got her down easily. After getting her in bed, Jeff and I hopped on a Zoom call with our Sunday school class, for our new routine of late-night Sunday school, which we’ve really been enjoying. Jeff did a little bit of in-the-dark yard work (blowing the dried, cut grass off the lawn), while I wrote this post, and now we’re going to finish watching the movie I fell asleep during earlier this afternoon.
