Presidential Wax Museum

We did great getting ready this morning, and out of the house on time, and even stopped to gas up the car since my gas light was on. And then both girls were dropped off on time!

I even had a few extra minutes to stop by a Little Free Library that’s on my way to work, and found not only two good books to grab, but also a beautifully blooming Japanese Magnolia! These trees are my fave, and I love seeing their beautiful pink flowers all over town at this time of year.

After working for a few hours, I took a later-than-usual lunch break to head back up to Gilchrist for a little event. Emerson’s gifted class presented a Presidential wax museum, where each student made a display board, and then came up with an outfit to dress up like them. She chose Truman, and decided she’d dress like a farmer, since his family were farmers. Each kid also wrote their own mini-speech, and recited it for everyone as they came by to visit. There were about 30 or so students, and lots of parents, plus a bunch of the different classes and grades kept coming by in turns to check it out too. It was all very cute, and she did such a great job!

We had church tonight, but luckily we didn’t have to be there early for anything. (Well, I was requested to sing on the worship team tonight, but I declined so we didn’t add extra chaos to our week, trying to rush to get dinner and get there early all on my own.) So instead, we went through the Cook-Out drive thru, and took the food home to eat before church. I also had to get Addison in a super fast emergency shower, because she came home absolutely disgusting and halfway muddy and just very gross 🤣 We also let Pennie out, and fed her, and then we headed up to church.

After church, Emerson needed a quick shower too. I also had to take the trash cans up to the street for trash pick-up day tomorrow. Then it was 9pm before we actually got started on bedtime, and this goofball decided to put on this unicorn onesie instead of the nightgown I suggested. She lasted only about 5 minutes before she realized she did in fact want her nightgown, so she got changed, and then took a while to fully settle down and fall asleep.

Emmie moved to her room about halfway through the lullaby playlist, and she was sound asleep by the time I went into her room, but I still played her two more lullabies, just in case…

Jeff has actually been taking quite a few photos on his trip over there, so here are just a couple from our “today.” We’ve been able to text back and forth a couple times, like when I wake up at 6am and he’s on his 1pm lunch break, and then again around noon here, which is 7pm there and they’re getting dinner. They had a good first full construction day, and things are going well. They’re sound asleep right now, but will be waking up again in just a few hours!
