As I was fixing her shirt and shorts from getting scrunched up in the car seat, she stealthily grabbed the chap stick from my little key chain holder thing, and was applying it before I even realized she had taken it!
Emmie said she had a good day at school, and she told me about the spider she painted. She also pooped in the potty at school again today!
Nana and the girls picked up Chick-fil-A and brought it over to our house for dinner tonight. When I told Emerson on the way home they were coming over, she was like, “And they’re gonna play with me!?” And they all played so sweetly together after dinner.
This bird’s nest still has these eggs in it, and we’re wondering if the mama bird might have abandoned it, because they’ve been here for a while and we haven’t even seen a bird around it in a long time. (There’s two more eggs under the larger brown leaf.)
They set up a little play space under the tree line, and took a million toys and blankets, and they were just so cute playing under there together! I haven’t often gotten a chance to see Emerson really play with other children (she’s usually only with other kids when at school & church), and I’ve loved getting to see how she interacts with older kids like her cousins! (When she’s around the triplets, she’s more of a helper with them, since they’re not quite old enough to really play with her yet, so it’s a little different.)
After playing in the back for a while, they cleaned up about 25% of their stuff and I got stuck with the rest, Andersen took Emerson to the bathroom, and she peed on the potty at home for the first time ever!! And Jeff set up the hammocks in the front yard for some more hangout time before bed…
Emerson only napped for 30 minutes at school today, so by 7pm, she was completely exhausted. It was a real fight to get her to come inside and get ready for bed. We finally talked her into it, by promising she could play with her cousins again tomorrow. She let me change her into her jammies, and then picked a tiny book for Andie to read to her.
She was a little bit tricky with the whole bedtime thing again tonight, and it took a little more hoopla overall before she was finally ready to lay down for good and go to sleep. But Libby & Andie weren’t ready to actually leave, so Nana ran them to DQ while we did Emmie’s bedtime, and they came back with ice cream to hang out with us for a little while longer, which was really sweet.
Looking forward to a little TV time now before my own bedtime…
