Sadly, big brother had to say his goodbyes to us early this morning, so he could get on the road back to South Carolina. He gave the girls about five hugs each, and they told him they didn’t want him to leave, and we were sad to see him go. It was so nice having him here this past week, having him in our day-to-day routines, just being here with us!
The kitchen is a mess, and there was just no way I was going to get in there and make us eggs or dirty up more bowls for cereal… So after we saw Ryan off, I put in our breakfast order on the Chick-fil-A app, and Jeff ran out to pick it up for us.
We had kinda planned to stay home and rest and do chores around the house today, but then I heard Jeff was planning to go help my dad fix up his lawn mower. So I figured if he’s going over there, then so are we! Turns out, Meg and her family were already over there too, so we put on our “baby soups” (bathing suits) and packed our bags and headed over.
We got there right at noon, and as they were having lunch (I was still full from breakfast), I volunteered to put Baby Hayden down for his nap. He was so sweet and squishy, and with the right rocking/swaying/patting/shushing combo, he was asleep in just about two minutes. I laid him down on the big giant guest bed, and Grandmommie came back to sit with him, so I could swim. She said he stayed in this exact position for his whole nap, and barely moved!
And we had a great time out in the pool for a few hours! The girls were all playing mermaids together, coming up with all sorts of stories and plots, and even pulled Uncle Bo in as “Pirate Barberosa” to play with them. I can’t tell you how many times they called out his name, Addison especially, as she was his little sidekick out in the pool today. They must have all yelled BARBEROSA about fifty-eleven times, so Bo said, “Can you name today’s post Barberosa?” And so, here we are 🤣
Meg and her fam had gotten there mid-morning, so they headed out once Hayden woke up, around 1:30 or so. But Mama and I stayed in the pool with the girls, while Jeff and Papa were still working on the mower in the garage, and really soaked up a lot more sun. We got out for a snack mid-afternoon, but you really can’t be out in the heat and not in the water, so we hurried to get back in. Papa & Jeff did eventually fix the mower, and they were more than ready to get in the pool to cool off for a bit.
Around 4pm, we finally got out of the pool to get dried off and put on some fresh clothes. Jeff and Addie went straight home (we actually drove out there this morning in two cars, at slightly different times, cuz the girls and I also went by the library to pick up some books on hold), but Emmie and I went to Walmart to pick up our grocery order. Once we got the groceries back home and put away the cold stuff, we went out to dinner at Huey Magoo’s. I got a grilled strip sandwich with pickles and their signature sauce, which is kinda peppery, kinda like Zax sauce, and it was really good.
The girls of course needed a quick bath when we got home, then into fresh, clean jammies, and a little bit of tv time on the couch before bedtime. Jeff is exhausted and already asleep himself, so I’m going to spend a little bit of time getting started on cleaning up the kitchen, while I get started listening to a new audio book, before I sit down for some more tv time myself.
