So today is Saturday, but this post is for Black Friday. Some of you may seen my Facebook post about me writing the entire post, and then somehow the entire post disappearing. I was soooo aggravated. But I’m feeling brave, so I’m gonna re-write it today, before writing today’s post….
She loves helping with chores – look how proud of herself she was helping Daddy bring the trash cans back down from the road!
We decided to head out into the craziness of Black Friday shopping, by meeting the Pullen’s at Kohl’s for a bit. This girl picked out her entire outfit, and really I’m proud of her 🙂
And look at this pose! And the tongue!
While the women went through some clothing sections, the men took the littlest ones through the toys. Emerson thought she wanted allll of things. Aunt Ashlie told her we’d take a picture and send it to Santa, so he would know what she wanted. We did end up getting her the Chewbacca Mr. Potato Head, and Daddy was so proud she wanted that one the most over everything else.
The rest of the family headed to the mall to hit a few more stores, but we went back to Nita’s house for Thanksgiving leftovers for lunch. Emmie loves this carriage, and now she loves filling it up with gas, using the nozzle of the water hose, and even going, “ssshhhpppshhhhhh” while doing it.
Once the others got back from the mall, Andersen wanted to fix Emmie’s hair again. They had found a box of special-themed Frozen II hair bands, with cute little charms, and Andie did such a good job on her teeny tiny buns!
The rest of the family headed off to the movie theaters to see Frozen II, but Emmie is just too little & too wiggly to sit through a feature film just yet, so we went home for nap time. (They actually left to go back home to Georgia after the movie, so we said our goodbyes beforehand. We loved spending time with them and will miss them, so we hope to see them again soon!) Mommy even napped for about an hour on the couch with the screen door open and the windows cracked, and it was so nice.
Emerson slept for about an hour, and then she wanted Mommy to fix her hair again, and I think I did a pretty good job! And the pigtails has a little bit of curl in them this time, and I just couldn’t handle it with the cuteness! Then we headed outside to play with Pretzel and blow some bubbles.
She wanted to be helpful with chores again, so she helped Daddy get her hamper full of laundry thrown into the washing machine.
And then we went on a little walk around our neighborhood. The sun was shining and the temperature was perfect, and it was a really nice time as a little family out in the great outdoors! She was chit-chatting so much, and skipping down the road, and she loved every minute of it.
After our walk, we headed over to Chick-fil-A for dinner. At first, she thought she only wanted ketchup for her nuggets & fries, but I told her to try the CFA sauce again, and of course she ended up loving it, and went to town on that stuff!
When we got home, she followed me to the bathroom, and settled right in. The way she has her little bloomers down around her ankles, and it just sitting there reading a book, was cracking me up!
She wanted to pick her own jammies, and when she was looking in the drawer, she said, “ones with the eyes!” And even though that was a weird way to say that, and kind of creepy, she’s not wrong! Once we told her what the shirt said, she kept talking about “my snuggles.”
It was still early, so we decided to throw on a Christmas record, and put up our Christmas tree!
She found these old earphones of the boys’, and wore them around the house for a little bit.
We also started another new tradition, with this “The Shepherd on the Search,” kit with a book and a cute shepherd boy. The concept is like Elf on the Shelf, but this story centers on the birth of Jesus. When I asked her what she wanted to name him, she said “Shepherd.” I suggested maybe we call him “Sheppy,” and she liked that. And she sounds so incredibly adorable saying it!
After reading the book for the first time (while she ate a small bag of M&M’s), I went and hid Sheppy for her to find. She thought it was great, and she just loved him so much! She even held onto him while we sat in the living room watching a few night-night videos.
And when it was time to go to bed, she wanted to read the same book again.
She was really sweet during the story time, and gave us both hugs and kisses. Buuuuut then things went downhill. She only wanted Daddy, she didn’t want lullabies, then she did want lullabies, and she didn’t want to be put down, and around and around we went. It took about an hour and a half, and lots of attempts to get her calmed down, and finally I just left her to cry-it-out for about two minutes. After that, we did lullabies for the third time, and then at like 9:15pm, she was ready to lay down in her bed.
It was super frustrating, but thank the Lord she was finally down. And then I spent 30-40 minutes writing the blog post for the day, only to have it disappear at like 10pm, when I was already exhausted. Jeff tried to recover it, but couldn’t. We couldn’t even figure out what happened. It was the weirdest thing, and so super annoying. But I’ve made it through it again, and now I’m going to hit “publish” before anything happens!
