Piano Recital

Someone was super excited for cinnamon rolls for our breakfast this morning!

After we ate breakfast, we got ready for the day. We took Emerson to church for play rehearsal, and the three of us went to Walmart. We had our usual grocery order to pickup, but we also needed to go in to look for extra strands of Christmas lights for our tree, plus a few other random things.

How cute is this giant coffee plushie!? (Or is is supposed to be boba, with those polka dots on the bottom?!) It was super soft, and it would make a great cuddle buddy on the couch 😉

Of course we found a few other things while we were there, like jeans for Jeff, a new lampshade on clearance for a lamp I thrifted like a year ago and never had a shade for, plus who knows what else. I also used Pampers points I’ve been collecting for years, to get $30 off this $39 box, so that was a great deal!

And now there’s a tiny Dunkin right inside my Walmart! So obviously I had to get myself a giant iced latte, since I hadn’t had any caffeine yet.

We put the groceries away at home, then went back to church to pick up Emmie. We had lunch at home, then Jeff and I took showers, and we all got dressed nice to attend Ellie’s Christmas piano recital. We had a few minutes to play before time to leave, and Addison served me up a “try latte” and a pizza soup, at her “Sacramento Cafe,” complete with her little apron. I have like five minutes of video of her just talking and chatting and being so cute and silly. Lemme see if I can upload it here after the photo… (My IT guy is snoring in the living room, so I’m on my own to figure it out tonight.)

I think I got it! A few notes: they’re learning all the capitals in school, so that’s why I asked her that. But this was the first time I’ve ever heard her say “Sacremento” before, so that caught me off guard, but I loved it. Also, I just kept asking her anything I could, to keep her chatting, because I love hearing her little voice talk so much.

The recital was at TRBC, and of course the whole fam went to support our tiny pianist! And she did such a great job with her little song! And obviously she was proud of and happy for herself, with that giant smile on her face as she took a bow!

Addie couldn’t hang in there the whole time though, so her and Jeff went out to the lobby after Ellie played, and the rest of us watched all the other kiddos. Bo and Hayden were out in the foyer too though, so they had some company to hang out with. And apparently Addie was very into this lizard they found on the floor!

When I picked up Emmie from church, the triplets told us we needed to dress fancy, so the girls really took that to heart, and went all out with their floofy, fancy dresses!

We made a quick run through Trader Joe’s, just for a few fun, random items, before heading back home finally. We did find two strands of lights this morning at Walmart that matched our tree, so we stuffed those all around trying to fill in the gaps of the ones that weren’t working anymore, and then strung up the chunky white wool yarn I love. But through all of that, these two were just curled up together hanging out so stinking cute.

I made a sausage, egg & cheese breakfast casserole for dinner, with a pan of biscuits, and some hot tea for me and Emmie. She’s actually very much in her hot tea era, and has had it every single night this week with her dinner.

(See that one biscuit in that tiny pot back there? All the others fit in one round pan but this one didn’t, so he baked on his own and it was so cute and came out perfect.)

So we only had time to put on the silver balls and the red poinsettias & holly berries (and a few randoms that were stuck in the boxes with those things), and we’ll do all the rest of the ornaments tomorrow. And I really need to work on the spacing of the yarn, now that I see it in a photo.)

The girls took a quick bath and got in clean jammies, Jeff started a load of laundry and also changed out all the light bulbs on the ceiling of our carport with the giant ladder, and I washed up a ton of dishes. I took Emmie to start on bedtime, and then this little girl actually fell asleep on the couch all on her own.

Today was a great, busy day, but I need some rest now for sure, because tomorrow will be another busy day as well.
