Who is this big girl standing in my library? She is just looking way too grown these days…
Love her hair in these little claw clips all twisty up.
Today was also another weird, out of the ordinary kind of day, which is why only big sister was in the morning pictures. So Jeff took Emmie to school, and I stayed home with Addie for a bit. First, I got dinner started in the Crock-Pot, slow-cooker chicken & gravy. Obviously I always add onions to everything I made, but I also added a packet of the Lipton onion soup mix today too, and that extra flavor was really great.
I had a bagel for breakfast, but Addie had her own ideas. She was like, “Can I have a piece of plain bread? Or nope, a circle bread with peanut butterrrrr andddd…. jam?” So I said, “Oh yeah you want a PB&J? A peanut butter and jelly sandwich?” And she was like, “No, just the peanut butter I think, but round from that thing we have in this drawer.” (As she was pointing and opening the drawer she was standing in front of.) So I made her a homemade PB uncrustable for breakfast. 🤣
Jeff came home and the three of us got ready, and we took Addie to the pre-school offices for Leon County Schools, to do a little VPK readiness evaluation. Well, she passed with flying colors, tested about the age of an almost-five-year-old. But the bad-news-bottom-line is, the public school VPK options (either our own zoned school or Gilchrist under sibling support) don’t offer care extended day care as long as we need it, since we both work full-time.
A few weeks ago I shared when we toured the NFC preschool program, but I don’t think I shared why… But unfortunately our Growing Room cut their VPK class in half for next school year (without telling anyone up front), and sadly we didn’t make the cut before they were full. So now we have to switch schools for VPK for Addie. We really loved NFC actually, but I was holding out hope that somehow the Gilchrist thing would work out, but obviously we can’t pick her up at like noon everyday.
So as of now, I already filled out the application and paid the deposit for NFC, and also already got the email back from the preschool director that she’s enrolled and ready to start there in August! It’s not ideal to have to switch schools now when we didn’t plan to do that, but I do think NFC will work out to be a great place for her next year.
So we had RUN out of the house for the appointment so fast at the last minute, because I had the time wrong and didn’t realize until the last minute, so I didn’t have time to pack my lunch, or even make myself a coffee. So I went back home after the LCS appointment, and made myself this ravioli and watched Survivor while I ate. I ended up being too full for the salad though, so I’ll have that tomorrow.
And Daddy and Addie had a little Taco Bell lunch date before he dropped her off at school for the day.
I got stuck at work late today working on an emergency case, so Jeff ran to pick up the girls, and they got to see Aunt Mae Mae picking up Baby Hayden.
I made it home just a few minutes before Jeff and the girls did, and then it was very quick and easy to fix dinner. I made a box of Aldi stove-top dressing and heated up a can of lima beans, and that all just took like 5 minutes. Then Jeff was out in the carport working on his car, so we had ourselves a little girls dinner on the back patio.
Neither of the girls liked the stuffing, but I thought it was really good, especially with the gravy. But they did both love the chicken, and Emerson even had a giant second serving of the chicken and told me I should make it more often.
It was bath night for the girls again tonight (we tend to do an every-other-night situation with them at this stage), and then we watched a few episodes of Bluey like usual before bedtime. It took a few minutes to herd Addison back to her room, and when I passed by Emerson’s room, I found her in there already snuggled up reading her book in her bed, like the most precious bookworm.
And this adorable munchkin was very proud of the otter book she picked out (she’s been very into otters lately, after getting those otter socks from Grammy on vacay), with her little gummies for a snack.
I fell asleep for a bit in Emmie’s bed putting her to sleep again tonight (I think I’ve done that most nights this week), so once again, I’m going to try to force myself to bed at a good time, so I can try to get some good rest!
