Even though it wasn’t a typical gorgeous sunrise this morning, I still thought it was pretty, and I loved all the clouds.
Emerson brought her giant unicorn in the car again this morning, and of course she had to kiss it goodbye before getting out of her car seat.
After taking a few silly photos, we went inside for lobby drop-off. Ms. Cynthia was there doing the hand-off’s again, but she was already holding a tiny baby in her car seat carrier. So Emerson got to go on a little walk with her to drop off the baby first. She just marched off down the hall, like it was no big deal!
Frittata and cornbread for lunch today, and since I didn’t have time to grab that last bit of the strawberries, I grabbed an applesauce instead, for today’s fruit. I’m making slow progress in this book, not because I don’t like it so far (I really do!), but because I’m only taking 30-minute lunch breaks this week, to help make up a little bit of my leave time here & there. It will barely make a dent, but I guess every little bit helps!
Tater Tot had a great day at school today, including ZERO wet diapers, and three potty breaks! (Also, I love the fun emojis her teachers always put on her report when she goes potty.)
I left work early today, at 3:45pm, to head over to see my primary care doctor. When I got my stitches at the ER last weekend, they said I could return to the ER, to Urgent Care, or my primary doctor to get them removed. I opted for my primary, hoping it would be the easiest option, the quickest appointment, and the cheapest co-pay. I was nervous though, because as of Saturday night, the wound has become a little bit infected & sore, and I was worried that either a) they wouldn’t take them out if they were infected/not healed, or b) it would hurt super bad since the site was tender already.
But the stitches were starting to get a little embedded, so the nurse practitioner said it was definitely time for them to come up. But now without the stitches, and since I’ve been on antibiotics for the infection since yesterday, it should all clear up in just a few days. She put five or six steri-strips on to keep it a little more secure for a few more days, then wrapped it up for the night. (When I took the photo, I realized my entire right foot is actually a little swollen, so I hope that goes down soon with the meds.)
After I left the doctor’s office, I was able to go pick up Emerson from school a little bit early today, and we were able to get home much earlier than usual. She rode home from school still wearing her panties, and I was so proud of her. So I told her in order to get a diaper, she had to sit on the potty first while we counted to 10. She didn’t pee, but she did at least sit willingly, without freaking out. We played in her room a little bit, and tried not to disturb Jeff too much, while he finished up the last half hour of his work day (he works 8:30 – 5:30 every day).
I had planned to cook dinner tonight. But then my foot was hurting worse than I expected (getting those stitches out was pretty painful!), and I wanted to elevate my foot and I didn’t feel like marching all around the kitchen cooking and such. So we ordered burgers on the Whataburger app, since we had a BOGO coupon. Jeff and Emmie drove to pick it up, and let me rest with my foot up on the couch. And then we took our dinner outside to eat on the back patio again, since the weather was so nice.
I had a little moocher to share my fries with, but I didn’t mind because she’s adorable and precious 🙂
And we spotted a birds’ nest in the tree right next to my chair! Jeff stuck his phone in there to see what was inside (since it was a little too high to see), and it looks like three tiny robin’s eggs! So cool!
She picked out four books tonight (from the giant pile she made a mess with earlier), and we read them all before bedtime. (She has the craziest hair from those little ponytails!)
We called Grammy, Papa & Grandmommie on the video call right before bedtime, and Emerson had a LOT to tell them about tonight. It was so cute. And she was being so goofy and funny! We had a bit of a toddler-fit after that (because she insisted on a snack and water and I was trying to talk her out of it because she was actually just stalling). But Daddy came and helped calm her down (and we gave in and gave her one chocolate covered almond), and then she had worn herself out and so she was ready for lullabies.
I’m going to get a water refill and then settle down for a night of rest on the couch, and keep my foot elevated. I’ve heard there’s going to be a super bright, super cool, pink moon at 10:45 tonight. I’d like to try to see it, but last night I fell asleep on the couch at 10:30, then went straight to sleep once I moved to the bed at 11:15. So we’ll see how it goes, an hour and a half from now…
