Papa’s Pool Party

So we were up kinda early today, by around 7:15 this morning, eating cereal and hanging out with the girls… I may or may not have fallen back asleep on the couch for an hour or so as well. But by mid-morning, we were up doing chores and taking care of things around the house. We did some laundry and tidied the living room, and Jeff did some yard work. The girls and I dropped off some donations at Living Harvest, picked up a library book, and also some drinks for me and Jeff from 7Brew.

We dropped off Jeff’s energy drink at home, and then the girls and I went out to Grammy and Papa’s house. Addie “wasn’t tired,” but Emmie and I were singing along to “Folklore” and next thing we knew, someone was sound asleep in the backyard.

But she did wake up telling me she felt better, and she really was in a better mood! And then we had some swim time. For the first hour or so, it was actually just the three of us girls, because we beat Meg’s family there, and my parents didn’t come out right away, and it was actually really nice with just us three!

Then Papa came out to join us, and Emerson talked him into doing a cannonball, and even though he claimed he was too old for it, he did it since she asked him to!

And finally, Meg and her crew arrived, and Uncle Bo brought over some homemade boiled peanuts, so obviously the kids all flocked around him for a little snack. I personally only managed to get about four peanuts, because I couldn’t elbow my way in through all those kiddos!

For dinner, Papa requested blackened shrimp tacos for his birthday. They had these tacos at a restaurant on a mini-vacay a couple of months ago and loved them so much, they recreated them at home a few weeks ago. And so tonight, Meg helped mom get all the toppings and everything ready, and then I helped cooked the shrimp. Mom also made some homemade remoulade sauces, and everything was so super yummy!

Then for dessert, we had his favorite red velvet cake, with yummy chocolate and fudge icing, and that was probably the best red velvet cake I’ve ever had.

We read a couple of books at bedtime with the girlies, and then they both laid down in our bed while I went to take care of some things, and Jeff was fixing something on our computer. Well, a mere five minutes or so later, we came back to find them totally conked out, without us even trying…

So we just left them there, and we’ll have to carry them of to their beds later. It’s currently storming, thundering and lightning, so it’s best that they’re in bed together anyways, to keep them from getting scared.

I’ve been in the mood to color for a few days now but haven’t had the time, so I’m gonna grab a coloring book, and some colored pencils, and just zone out for a while…
