Although we’re not quite back to our regular schedule, since school hasn’t started yet, I did unfortunately have to go back to work today. To start the new year, I pulled out this cute new notebook I got at Five Below a few months back, and was waiting until the new year to start it. I log/tally all of my phone calls and emails at work every day, keep track of how many assignments I give each of my staff, and use this for emergency calculations and notes and daily reminders.

A new month also means starting out with a fresh white board in my office, and new supervisor-related goals. I only have the one goal for now, but I’m sure more will pop up as the year progresses…

Nana had both of the girls today, and they had a very full day! One park in Havana, lunch, one park in Tally, a trip to their old house, and a quick run by their church. Then Nana brought them to me at my office at the end of the day, and we headed on home.

For dinner tonight, I made a delicious pot of chili, and of course topped it with the usual cheese & sour cream, plus some Ritz crackers on the side. I always make it the same way, but it was somehow extra yummy tonight. Jeff was actually raving about it, and got a giant second bowl. Emerson ate it, but didn’t love it; but Addison loved it, because she loves beans!

Emerson was feeling over-tired tonight and over-stimulated (you can see from her red-rimmed eyes she had been upset), so she made herself a mug of hot tea, and I let her settle down in my bed for some quiet relaxing time.

Then everyone settled down in Emmie’s room for our usual bedtime business. That means prayers and our lullaby playlist, while Jeff scrolls on his phone (probably Reddit or something) and I read on my Kindle app on my phone. Pennie has been joining us back there more and more lately, and she’s been such a good girl.

Last night, when I left their bedroom, Jeff and Pennie were still in there. When I finished my blog, I came out expecting to find both of them in the living room, but Pennie wasn’t there. I asked where she was, and Jeff looked confused for a minute, and realized he had forgotten her in there. We checked the cameras, and she was still laying there sweet and cozy. We checked them again later from the security cam in the room, and Pennie had moved down to Addie’s bed. She stayed in there with them until Jeff went to bed finally around 12:30am, and put her in her crate for the night. It’s about 9:15 right now, and she’s still in there with them right now, all three girls just snoozing away!

I’m heading off to wash up some dishes now, and then maybe work on my puzzle a little bit… Or maybe just crash on the couch, because I’m feeling super tired after my first full day back in the office after another long holiday break!
