Mug-nificent Keepsake

We had a pretty slow, chill Saturday morning. I got cereal for the girls, and I drank a protein shake for breakfast, while Jeff slept in with a headache. Then I ran to pick up the Walmart grocer order, and got all the food put away. The girls played out in the backyard for a long time, just doing their little wild girl thing.

Emmie kept going up under the trees along the back fence line, and shaking the branches until these tiny pink flower petals came raining down in their hair.

I made myself a tall teddy graham latte like I was obsessed with around this time last year. I haven’t made this in a long time, and dang it was just as delicious as ever.

We got cleaned up and dressed nice, then dropped off the girls at Nana and PopPop’s house, and Jeff and I headed out to a wedding for some church friends. I sing with Mikayla in our worship team, and Jeff serves with Colin in GC Kids. It was a chilly afternoon for an outdoor wedding, but it was all beautiful and so sweet!

The wedding was at Woodberry in Havana. It’s a beautiful wedding venue, but it’s apparently also a real working farm with cows and they grow veggies and trees.

For their wedding gift, they had this awesome wall of so many thrifted mugs. They had a cute hand-carved sign on top that says, “Thanks a latte for celebrating with us! Choose a mug, grab a drink at the coffee bar, and take it home as a mug-nificent keepsake from the new Mr. and Mrs.” I thought this was just such a cool, unique idea, and perfect for them since their first date was at Lucky Goat coffee shop. I loved seeing all the options, and picking out the one I wanted. (I almost fought Megan for one of the ones she chose; I even asked if we could have shared custody of the mug!)

But I do love this cute little “Texas Bluebonnets” mug I ended up choosing. Oh and Jeff got a Jurassic Park mug! Before dinner, we did team trivia with all the different tables, and we played with some of our friends, and even though we lost pretty terribly, it was still fun!

The cakes were make by another church friend, and they turned out beautiful! (Sadly, we left before the cakes were cut and served, but I was really hoping for a small taste of that mocha cake.)

But look how gorgeous! The dinner portion was in that large barn in the center. And there are a ton of fresh giant round hay bales in the open barn on the right-hand side.

After the wedding and dinner reception, we went back to Nana’s house. We hung out there with them for a bit, and gave the girls their bath their before heading home. They both fell asleep in the car, and then were asleep pretty much immediately once we transferred them to their beds at home.
