We had a great day in GC Kids today! Normally, I just stay and help in elementary kids church. But today, Bo asked me to get video footage of all five classes, and I’m going to make a little promo video to use leading up to Easter. So I was running around all morning, back and forth and up and down the stairs, but it was fun!
Then we had lunch at Firehouse Subs, with these cute girls in their new ultra clearance dresses we found shopping yesterday.
They have a new Zesty Garlic Hook & Ladder and that was delicious. Slightly spicy, great garlic taste, and all the class hook & ladder elements. I could eat another one right now, actually.
Three of the four of us napped after lunch time, and the fourth (Emerson), just watched her silly little Netflix show while I was asleep on the couch. When I woke up, I had a little bit of time to work on my puzzle, until Jeff and Addie also woke up. Then Jeff did a little more landscape yard work, trimming trees and branches that are hanging on our power lines, and I watched the girls on their bikes/scooters, and set up this “house” in the driveway.
And then tonight was pancakes for dinner. I read a book last week called “The Strawberry Patch Pancake House,” and there was a lot of talk about pancakes, which obviously made me want pancakes. And Addie is always asking for pancakes. Plus, I still had this box of mix from the leftover spring break pancakes, so it was perfect. And a little mini pot of decaf coffee to round everything out.
And these were like the best batch of pancakes I’ve ever made! I always add cinnamon & vanilla to a boxed mix, but then tonight I also cooked them in copious amounts of butter instead of just the cooking spray, and that was really the best move. The main guy in the pancake house book was a Michelin star chef who takes over a small town diner and turns it into a pancake house, so there was tons of talk of pancakes. Plus, Walmart gave me a 3-lb bag of frozen mixed berries I didn’t actually order, so we’re gonna be doing some fun stuff with berries to try to use that up. I’m thinking some homemade mixed berry jam & some smoothies.
But to keep it simple for tonight, I just put out a little bit of berries to thaw a bit, and then everyone got a scoop next to their pancakes.
Post dinner was play time for the girls and dish-washing for me, and then Bluey and bedtime. Addie picked this little book from her bookshelf to read tonight, and she loved it so much she wanted me to re-read it three times. This was actually my book when I was about her same age, and I remember my mom and grandparents reading to me when I was tiny.
Think I’m going to work on my puzzle a little bit more, while we watch some of our favorite YouTube vloggers. I feel like I’ve been on the verge of a cold, or maybe just allergies or something for a couple of days, but it’s really starting to hit harder tonight. Took some Sudafed and a Claritin, and I’m going to drink an Emergen-C, and hopefully I can keep it from getting too much worse.
