Emerson was very proud of this outfit she picked out for today, flower shirt with the flowers on her overalls, even if she did have her shirt on backwards 😉 And Addison was so happy about her cute new dress!
At work, my little unit of 6-8 people have been pushing hard over the past 6-ish months to work down a large backlog we had and some very overdue work. Like, almost 400 backlogged items, when “typically” it’s only like 20 per week… Well without getting into all the details, our boss told us when we got under 100, she’d throw us a pizza party. Well as of a few weeks ago, we were down to 75-ish, and now this week we’re down under 50, so we had us a pizza party in the conference room today!
After picking up the girls from school, we got home and I got busy making dinner. We had chicken tacos with rice & beans, and guac on the side with some chips. I also made a jar of quick pickled red onions, that weren’t ready by dinner time, but they’ll be there for the next couple of weeks. This was after Emerson had already taken the girls’ plates to the table, and she came back and told me my plate (on the right) was “cute!”
After dinner, Jeff went outside to work in the carport, and I got the girls in the bath, while also cleaning up from dinner. Once they were clean and dry and dressed in clean jammies, Addison set up a little mini mermaid tea party for them, and they were so very cute playing and pretending together for a few minutes.
The girls and I did all of our regular bedtime routine stuff, and then did a one-parent-put-down (which is what they call it on Bluey), since Jeff was still outside work on the new-to-him riding lawn mower. This was my Granddaddy’s old mower before he passed, that Bo had for a long time. He wasn’t using it though, so it gave it to Jeff. Only problem is, it needs some work before it will actually run. So he got started on that a little bit tonight, hoping he can get it working before the summer really gets here and the grass starts getting out of control and needing to be mowed every weekend…
The girls were all cute and cuddly at bedtime, and we all laid in my bed together snuggled up for a long time. I eventually wiggled my out from between them, and got them both to sleep in their own beds (luckily, Emmie woke up just enough to walk herself there, and I carried Addie like a cooing little baby). Jeff got the carport cleaned up, and he got himself cleaned up, but I’m not doing the dishes tonight, that’s gonna have to wait…
