Loving their location change for the sister pics this morning. Both looking bundled up and warm!

With the upcoming freezing temperatures coming this weekend, when we got home tonight, Jeff and the girls went outside to pull a little mini harvest off the orange tree. There are probably 400+ oranges on the tree again this year, and we meant to harvest last weekend while it was super warm. But since we didn’t get around to it then, they were rushing to pull of as many as they could before it got dark, just trying to save at least some before the freeze.

They were able to about 100 of the lowest ones, the easiest to reach, and you can see there are still a couple hundred more. So we’ll see how they fare tonight, and then try to pull off a few more over the next few days. Figured it was worth breaking it up into smaller sessions, to save some before the freeze, rather than trying to spend a few hours doing them all at once.

Meanwhile, I was inside cooking dinner. I found this new recipe for cream cheese garlic chicken, which is low-carb and very cheesy and delicious. And this was goooood. The whole family loved it, but Emerson especially loved it. She kept going back for more and more, and had like two and a half servings of rice too.

The rice wasn’t quite ready when the rest of the food was, so we ate everything else first, and then scooped up some rice when it was ready. I measured out my tiny little serving so I could count all my carbs (that’s what I’m doing – counting carbs, not counting calories – like when I ate super low-carb when I had gestational diabetes with Addison), but really wished I could have had way more than that. Also, this frozen air-fryer asparagus wasn’t that good. I had to cook it three different ways, three different times, just trying to get it to crisp up and not be a super soggy mess. Won’t be trying that again…

Emerson had some math homework that was giving her a hard time tonight, so it took a while for us to work through it together, but we did eventually make it. Meanwhile, I was going through old photos from 2016 (it’s apparently a trend to post 2016 photos right now), and so that was fun reliving some of those old times from 10 years ago.
The funny part is, there are tons of them from 2016 with Snapchat filters and text on them, and silly little videos from my snap stories. Emerson was roasting me about a particularly cringey video of me talking about making egg-in-the-hole for the first time. I told her if she finished her homework I’d let her watch it again, and she was like, “Yeah because I need to memorize that one!” She was so funny making fun of me, laughing so hard and just living it up.
It was immediately bedtime once we finished homework and Snapchat videos, and all three girls were ready and waiting to get into bed. We also tucked an extra fuzzy blanket under their covers to keep them super warm and cozy in the night, since it’ll get down into the 20’s by early morning.

We went through our whole routine, just a little later than usual, and they settled down relatively easily. And now I’m ready to settle down too…
