Midnights

Just like I planned, I did in fact take a little nap around 11pm last night, and then woke up at midnight to listen to Taylor Swift’s entire new album, “Midnights.” And it was so good! But I was definitely super tired when I finally went to bed at 1am…

Addie pie was so cute in a new Disney outfit, and in a very happy little mood for drop-off this morning!

Emmie on the other hand wasn’t feeling well, and had a very low-grade fever, so she stayed home for a sick day with Daddy.

At work, we had our annual “tailgate” lunch, with free Bradley’s sausage dogs. We sat out on the steps at the building across from ours, and enjoyed the perfect weather and our delicious lunch, with lots of good people watching and crazy conversations and lots of laughs.

Emmie wanted a breakfast sandwich for her lunch, so after running through the drive-thru for her, they went to the pumpkin patch church to get me a fancy coffee, and then they dropped it off at my office while we were all still outside.

My favorite little mobile coffee truck, The Frother’s Daughter, had a special Taylor Swift inspired latte for the new album release day. I just had to have the beautiful & delicious “Lavender Haze” iced latte (to go with my midnights manicure) in honor of T-Swift release day! 🌌☕💜☔  And Jeff was so nice to go get it for me and deliver it to me!

One little pic of Addie having fun at school today.

Back at the house, Jeff set up this random touch-screen computer thing (no idea where it came from; people give him stuff to fix or keep or sell, and I can’t keep up with it) for Emmie to play some learning games and do some typing, and she entertained herself there for a while, before they eventually went to pick up Addison.

I went straight home after work, and immediately got the hammock out so I could swing in the perfect late-afternoon weather, with my earbuds in, listening to Midnights again. (I actually listened to it at my desk pretty much all day too, so I probably make it 3 or 4 times through the whole album.)

We did a super easy dinner with a few frozen pizzas and some pb&j’s, with chips and applesauce pouches for the girls. Both girls were wearing Daddy’s hats for a while at dinner, looking adorable in them.

Then I made some “hot” tea for Emmie (it’s basically completely cool by the time she deems it ready to drink), then she played on her Kindle for a bit, I worked on my puzzle, and Jeff and Addie played computer games.

Around 7:30, Emerson said she was ready for me to come cuddle her, so I sat down on the couch by her. But she decided she wanted to put on a nightgown, and then she called me to come back and lay down in my bed with her. I went back there and asked, “What are we gonna do back here?” And she was like, “Get ready to sleep and listen to calm music.” So I laid down with her, turned on our sound machine & our calm music she likes, and she was completely asleep in about 5 minutes. I laid there with her for about 20 minutes (maybe even snoozed myself a little bit), and then carried her to her room and tucked her in for the night. You know that my poor baby girl didn’t feel great today, since she put herself to bed tonight, early, and was out so quickly.

And of course these two were snoozing away in the recliner during that time too, so I scooped up Addison and loved on her, and then laid her down in her crib.

As soon as we got both girls down, we went right back to the puzzle, to get it finished up. We spent about 1.5 hours on it last night, just listening to music and chatting, and it was so relaxing and a really nice way to spend time together. Jeff is actually so good at puzzles, so he’s a great puzzle-buddy. After all the work we did last night, and then the time I spent working on it tonight after dinner, it only took us another 5 minutes to get those last 20-ish pieces placed. Gonna pass this one along to my parents for them to work on, and now I already wanna get started on another one!

Since I didn’t get much sleep last night, I definitely have some rest to catch up on tonight. I’m gonna grab a snack, and watch a little tv with my hubby, and then get to bed at a decent hour tonight.
