So Emerson is basically only into shorts or skirts these days. But when picking out clothes for the week, I was like, “Girl, you have so many dresses, you can wear some to school! You don’t have enough shorts and skirts to only wear those!” So she was like, “OK fine, I’ll wear ONE dress a week, on a day I don’t have PE!” So today was the day of the dress 🤣
Emerson told me exactly how she wanted her hair done today, and then brought me all the right accessories from our newly organized cache. And it turned out so great!
And my sweet little Addie was just ready for another week at her new school!
After school, on our drive home, big sister was getting started on her homework, and baby sister was finishing up the food from her lunchbox.
We did a little “meatless Monday” meal tonight, with cheese tortellini, Caesar salad, and garlic bread, plus a couple random mozzarella sticks that we got in our Walmart order.
As I’ve been saying for the past month or so, Emerson seems to be going through a bit of a growth spurt. She’s been eating huge meals, always cleaning her plate, just surprising us with how much she’s actually eating. Tonight was no exception, as she cleaned her plate, and went back for seconds, which in turn means she ate about the same amount as the adults ate!
And for the first time this school year, but certainly won’t be the last, Addie came home so sandy and dirty from the playground, that we had to have an unscheduled bath night 🤣 She literally had so much sand and even some black gravelly stuff in her hair, that I needed to wash her hair twice! It was the most obvious once it was wet, and I wish I would have taken a picture of the top of her head like that!
And obviously big sister hopped in on bath time too, and looked super cute in her little towel turban afterwards.
We settled down after bath to watch a little bit more of “Swiss Family Robinson” together, and Addie was snacking on some sunflower seeds.
We also watched one quick episode of Bluey, and then both girls ended up having a meltdown between Bluey and bedtime. Emerson was freaking out about the ulcer inside her bottom lip, when I mentioned showing her orthodontist at her appointment next week. (She’s had it a while, and it’s not going away with the things we’ve tried so far.) And then Addison was crying and sobbing because she wanted a snack and didn’t like any of the options we presented her, and tried to convince us that M&M’s weren’t candy because they were from the Dollar Tree. (I have no idea where she was coming up that logic, but it didn’t change our answer that she couldn’t have candy at bedtime.)
Anyways, but the time I talked Emmie off her ledge (promising the dentist wouldn’t try to pop her ulcer, since that’s what she thought would happen), and Jeff talked Addie off her ledge (with a plain piece of white bread for her snack) it was nearly 8:30 and they were both red-eyed and totally exhausted. But we still got a few smiles out of them, and they both agreed to take a sister pic since they both had baby blue on thier jammies.
I’m gonna get some dishes washed, and I need to make the breakfast casserole that I forgot to make yesterday, for the girls to have for breakfast again for the week. So I better get busy!
UPDATE – the dishes are done, and the bacon, egg & cheese casserole is baked, and I’m watching Netflix since Jeff fell asleep early.
