You guys, 2020 has been a looooong six months. (Honestly, March feels like it was a year ago already.) But we’ve now made it halfway through – welcome to July!
When we got to school today, she squatted down again to check out the same plants from yesterday. She said she needed to supervise, I asked what exactly she was supervising, but she couldn’t exactly tell me… haha 🙂
The car rides to and from school every day are when Emerson and I do some of our best chats. Here are some of things she said in the car today…
I want a little car, ‘cuz I wanna drive like you, Mommy.
I used to have a little little tree house a long time ago. (No, she didn’t.)
I used to have a little, little, little doggie, with a little, little, little bone.
I don’t hear your brakes anymore!
Still really loving this rice-cake-peanut-butter-banana-cool-whip-chocolate-chip-pecan concoction for breakfast, almost every day. It’s sweet & yummy, but also filling, and I don’t feel super guilty or too full to move like after you eat too many pancakes…
This happy little girl had herself a great day at school. Just look at the smile in this first photo! Also, both Grammy and IÂ love these photos of her working so hard on her little craft, with her sweaty head and her precious tiny hands. She’s just the best!
Jeff had to run out, and he brought me back this giant lemon tea as an afternoon treat, of which I only drank about a third of, and saved the rest for later. We started a new month of daily scripture writing, with forgiveness as the focus for the month. Let me know if you want me to email you the plan for the month!
When we got home after school, Emerson said, “Mommy, can we love on the couch?” And I rushed right over! She was so sweet and cuddly, and she was so excited when Pretzel came over to cuddle us too!
For a special surprise, Grammy and Grandmommie brought us dinner tonight! Grandmommie cooked it at their house, then drove 30 minutes across town to bring it to us, all so I didn’t have to cook or clean tonight, which I very much appreciated! She was calling herself Meals on Wheels, and she was right!
Grandmommie made sirloin steak smothered in gravy, white rice, green beans & squash casserole. She also brought a loaf of bread, and made a strawberry pie with cool whip and peach marshmallow jello! Such a spread! Oh, and she even brought over nice paper plates, so we didn’t have to dirty up any plates.
We had lots of free time to play after dinner since I didn’t have any clean-up to do, so Emmie and I went out to run around in the backyard a bit, and then played with her veterinary bus and tiny animals.
It makes noises and plays music and says colors, shapes and numbers. Emerson asked me why it was saying “string,” but I told her it definitely wasn’t saying that. But then she brought it closer and I pushed the little buttons, and it actually says, “one, two, string, four.” What in the world?!
We read her Berenstain Bears slumber party book, and then she got very invested in looking at all the other books on the back, and picking out which ones she thought she wanted.
She wanted Daddy to do lullabies tonight, so she gave me a big hug and a few kisses, and she cuddled up in Daddy’s arms. My introverted nature is feeling a little over-stimulated today (I heard the boys arguing on & off a lot during the day, and Emmie was very clingy & whiny tonight), so I’m going to have some me-time, watching Netflix on the tv in our bedroom, all by myself tonight. And I’m gonna love every minute of it! 🙂
