Market Samosas

Made up a box of cranberry orange muffins for breakfast today, and these were SO good with some butter and the lingonberry jam from IKEA. Very fall-festive-feeling.

These silly cuties decided they wanted to wear some dress-up clothes to go hit up some yard sales, and hey why not right?!

After a few yard sales, we went to the downtown market for a bit too. Jeff and I absolutely LOVE the samosas from this Indian food booth at the market, and we obviously have to get some every time we go. So we get two orders of samosas (which is two per order), and two orders of garlic naan for the girls. And today we also tried a mango lassi, which is a fruity, yogurt-y drink, and totally delicious. (It’s the orange-colored one at the edge of the photo.)

Goodness gracious I just love these little girlies! With their dress-up dresses, and their beautiful smile and bright blue eyes. Sometimes I can’t even stand it. And this was one of those moments. The weather felt SO nice, and we were sitting on a brick wall, listening to a musician play nearby, watching our girls spin around in circles, eating super delicious snacks. While we sat there, Jeff said, “Happiness is samosas at the market.” And I thought that was just such a cute thing to say.

After the market, we decided to go for an early lunch, in an attempt to beat the crazy crowds at the brand new Cookout that just opened this past week. We ate at one of these in Alabama back in the spring on our way to family vacay, but that was the only time. So we ordered a TON of food to all share, so we could test a bunch to see what our faves were. (And yes, we definitely ordered way too much, especially since we kinda forgot we had those snacks at the market not 30 minutes prior…) But everything was really yummy! The cheese bites were the clear winner, and the quesadilla tasted almost the same as Taco Bell (in a good way), and Jeff loved his burger.

I only had a bite or two of the Reese’s milkshake, and then the three of them shared it. (I’m just not as much of an ice cream gal, and would rather eat more french fries 😉 ) But they said it was really good, and was super thick and creamy.

We did a bunch of chores and some random things when we got home. All the usual stuff like washing dishes, cleaning the living room, starting a load of laundry, sweeping & swiffering the kitchen, etc… But we also had some other side quests to take care of, like fixing our bed that recently broke (it’s like 20 years old and just a simple IKEA bed) and needed to be reinforced underneath the slats. So Jeff took care of that, with a little help from the tiny tot.

And Emerson and I ran some errands, including 7Brew for coffee (for the first time today at 3pm!) and the library to drop-off books we were done with and pick up new holds.

Then one of our other little projects for the afternoon was re-potting my snake plant. I’ve had this for four or five years now, just got it as a little baby from Trader Joe’s one year. And it’s finally really growing well and out-growing that tiny pot, so we relocated it to a bigger one! And of course my girlies wanted to help.

We got packed up and ready after that, to head over to Nana and PopPop’s house. And since Addie skipped her nap today, she fell asleep for a little nap in the car.

The girls helped Nana decorate her little tiny outdoor tree with some apple ornaments, while we just sat in the back yard enjoying the perfect weather some more. Then the girls ran wild playing around, playing in the dirt, and doing all the things. (They’re getting their own, brand new, privacy fence installed, so that’s what all the posts and dirt is about.)

We had cheeseburgers and tater tots for dinner, and also a little bit of homemade chicken noodle soup Nana made a few days ago and had leftover. The girls both killed the soup, eating their first little bowl and then a second helping too.

Jeff was putting the Christmas boxes back up in the attic, and of course the girls had to go check it out up there too.

And while I got the girls cleaned up in the bath tub, Jeff installed some cute little floating shelves over their coffee bar. Then we made some hot tea for me and Emmie, and some hot cocoa for Addie, and took it out on the porch for a cozy little night time drink.

Can you tell how tired these girls were by those eyes!?

I helped Nana style her cute new little shelves with some of her Christmas decor, and we also super love having this little lamp right here too, next to the kitchen, for extra cozy vibes at night.

We ended up staying way too late, and didn’t leave until a little after 8:30pm. The girls obviously both fell asleep on the way home, and barely made it inside before curling up and falling asleep again. Jeff and I went about doing more chores (like another load of laundry, and changing the sheets on our bed), and just let them snooze away. They’re actually still there, while I’ve been blogging and Jeff’s been setting up someone’s new computer.

So now, I guess we actually need to go carry them both to their beds. Addie is still tiny enough to carry easily, but Emmie feels so gangly, all long legs and arms, when trying to carry her, so she’s more of a challenge. But it’s got to be done!
