Mama’s Sick Day

Emerson stayed up way too late at Nana’s house last night, but it seems she still woke up in a good mood. Nana took her to school and said she did much better at drop-off, than she did with Daddy yesterday, with only minimal whining, but not much else.

I slept in to the super late hour of 7:30 (well, I originally got up at 6am to let the dog out; Jeff had actually slept over at his parents house last night too), but lazed around and didn’t get up & moving until 8am. So then I made myself a yummy breakfast. Uncle Keith sent some biscuits home with me the other night, plus a few fried eggs, and it was so good! I had only planned to make two eggs, but there were only three left in the carton, and why leave only one egg?! Plus, an iced coffee, to start the day’s hydration.

I continued binging “Anne with an E” on Netflix for a while, and then worked on this little craft project. I can’t show you final result though, because the recipient reads this blog, and it’s a gift, so it’ll have to wait…

I had the last bit of leftover coconut curry chicken soup, plus bread and more liquids, and even though my taste buds are all weird from the sickness and it wasn’t quite the same as usual, it was still yummy.

Little one took a nice, long two-hour nap at school today, and had fun with stamp art, making a birthday card for Dr. Seuss!

By mid-afternoon, I had finished all 10 episodes of the third and final season of “Anne with an E,” and cried my way through a few of them. I’m sad they didn’t renew it for another season, because I would have loved to see the girls flourish at college, and Anne & Gilbert’s romance take flight! But it was sweet and precious none-the-less. After that, in a fit of cabin-fever (or couch-fever), I got up to wash some dishes and take a shower. I definitely felt cleaner, but definitely tired, so then it was back to the couch and back to Netflix for a while…

Until it was time for a snack, so I made myself a strawberry, banana, coconut milk smoothie, with Mexican vanilla, honey & coconut flakes. It was delicious, but it could have done without the actual coconut, because it doesn’t exactly blend up. But it was still yummy!

Nana picked up Emerson after school & work, and brought her back home to Mama. I had been fever-free for more than 24 hours, and I missed my girl so much, and I just needed her back! And she was so excited to see me, and I was thrilled to see her! She told me I wasn’t allowed to cook dinner though, because she just wanted to cuddle with me. I was so not opposed to that, so we watched a little bit of “Cars” on Disney+, while Jeff made a super quick & simple dinner.

Sweet girl saying her prayers before supper.

She ended up not wanting to eat the chicken like a sandwich, but she did end up eating almost an entire chicken patty, plus corn and plenty of blue Powerade zero.

She had a special bubble bath tonight, and loved splashing around in the bubbles for quite a long time.

And good grief this girl is so cute and sweet that it makes my heart hurt sometimes! I just love her so much! Can you tell I missed her desperately for the one night we were apart? 🙂

We read The Three Little Pigs again tonight, while she held tightly to her own little piggy. And she just continued to be the absolute sweetest and silliest little nugget for bedtime. She kept wanting to tell me “just one more thing” after prayers and before lullabies and she was doing this weird little thing with very softly pinching my cheeks, and then putting her hands to her mouth and gasping like she was just shocked. It was so weird & silly, and I started laughing so hard, and then that sent me into a coughing fit. But it was still cute & funny.

By the end of our lullabies, she was completely asleep, all soft and rag-doll-like in my arms. I did a quick clean-up in the kitchen, and put away the leftovers & got ready for our lunches for tomorrow, but I’m leaving the dish-washing for another day. But I’m trying not to over-do it tonight, so now it’s definitely time to rest.

I may not have felt that great, but it was actually great to have an entire day all to myself at home. I literally can’t even remember the last time that happened, and I didn’t hate it. Even though I do feel better today than I did yesterday, I’m still not 100% better yet (and neither is Jeff), so keep the prayers coming our way please! And keep praying Emmie stays well!
