Mad for Plaid

This is the last week of work and school before Christmas break, and of course that means special dress-up days for the girls. Emerson’s dress-up day was “mad for plaid,” and I just lucked out finding this perfect dress in her closet, that I had totally forgotten about. Addison was supposed to wear a hat, but we didn’t find one in time, but if you look closely, the pineapples and flamingos are wearing Santa hats.

Here are a few more photos from yesterday morning after the play at church, that we took on Meg’s phone and she forgot to send me until this morning… Also, I didn’t explain yesterday that the title of the play was C.A.K.E. which stands for Christmas Acts of Kindness Experiment, which is also why we did the little service nights a few weeks ago, to give the kids a chance to serve for real themselves. So that’s also why there was a gigantic cake as part of the set.

I ventured out to the mall on my lunch break today to do some Christmas shopping. I literally never go to the mall, and I was worried it would be bananas in there, but it was decorated beautifully and really not too bad! I also grabbed lunch from the food court and took it back to the office, and it was really delicious.

Beautiful sunset while picking up the girls after work today.

Good ole “spaghetti” for dinner tonight, but with rigatoni noodles, because I love “short pastas” rather than long spaghetti noodles. Plus Caesar salad and garlic bread. And the meat sauce I made tonight was good. Some nights it’s just better than others, and this was one of those nights. Super tasty and I’m glad I still had enough leftover for two more bowls for lunches this week!

Addie was throwing a small fit when it was time to sit down for dinner, but we got her calmed down and smiling in no time. And just like the baby bunny that she is, she ate all of her salad and asked for more. Emmie was popping around doing gymnastics, so we asked her to bring some more salad for Addie, and she was very sweet and happy to serve her more.

I bought this brand new Carrie Underwood Christmas vinyl off of Facebook Marketplace today for $3 whole dollars (the girl came to meet me at my office), so obviously we had to listen to it at dinner time tonight. Emerson was like, “Wow she has a good voice.” I was like, “Oh yeah girl that’s an under-statement, she has an incredible voice!”

After dinner, Jeff took care of the girls and got them ready for bed. I made a quick box mix of cornbread for a work lunch tomorrow, and then washed up as many dishes as I could while it baked in the oven.

It smelled absolutely amazing, and I so badly wanted to cut right into it and have a piece with some butter while it was piping hot! But alas, I left it alone, and it will make it to the office whole tomorrow…

I also remembered to move Sheppy tonight, after he accidentally camped out on the puzzle he completed for a second night in a row last night…. We said he was so proud of the puzzle, and also just needed some rest after our busy weekend, so that’s why he was still there today. Oopsies!

Phew, tonight was a slightly chaotic night with whiny girls and lots of things to take care of, but the girls are asleep now, and I’m looking forward to relaxing on the couch now.
