Daddy & Emmie dropped me off at church early, for praise team rehearsal before Sunday School, and they went for a Daddy-Daughter Donut Date at Dunkin.
Sunday school and church went great, and then the family went out for lunch next door at Zaxby’s.
Emerson and I were both exhausted, and trying not to fall asleep on the ride home from lunch. So as soon as we got home, I got her down for a nap, and then I laid down in the bed and went to sleep for a bit too. We slept for about an hour and a half, and then once she woke up, we all woke up too, and then snuggled on the couch and played together for just a bit.
Took a picture of my copy of “Little Women,” just to show off how pretty it is! Haven’t read much over the weekend, but now I’m going to try to put myself on a strict deadline to finish it before next weekend, so I can get my Mama to take me to see it for an early birthday present 😉
Then we went over to Dave & Nita’s church, for a wedding shower. It was for Nita’s cousin’s oldest son, who also used to help out & play with Ryan & Gabe when they were much smaller. Emmie really enjoyed all the snacks, and ate her fill of sammiches, chips & cake. We all did actually, and had so much party food, that we just skipped an official dinner.
It was getting cold by the time we got home, so we got Emerson all bundled up in this adorable little one-piece romper deal, to hang out in for a while. She looked like a tiny polar bear cub, with ears on her hood and everything, and I loved it so much!
This was her growling like a little baby bear cub!
She was flipping through “Little Women” with my “Sound of Music” music box playing next to her, just being so sweet and precious.
And then she wanted to check out the dogs in this new dog coffee table book Jeff got for Christmas. This particular dog looks sooo much like our old dog, Primrose. She was a stray who we adopted from the shelter, so it was a mystery what kind of dog she was. We thought she was some sort of dachshund/beagle mix, but after seeing these photos, we’re actually wondering if she had some of this Visla breed in her?!
For those of you who didn’t know Primrose, this was her! We adopted her one month after we got married (November 2013), and she was my first baby! I loved her so, so much, and she was the best dog. One month after Emerson was born (August 2017), she Primrose ate something plastic, that ruptured her intestines, and emergency surgery couldn’t fix it. Anyways, she was my favorite dog ever, and I loved her so much, and now Emerson has started asking to see Primrose, and wants to look at those pictures in the dog book.
We didn’t think it would be good for her to sleep in that baby bear outfit, but she wasn’t thrilled about having to take it off. I had to promise her she could wear it again around the house in the morning, and then I still had to point out the fact that she would match, since Mommy was also wearing jammies with long sleeves & long pants, and she liked that idea. So we picked out these llama jammies, and then she had to line up all her little stuffed llamas.
She was trying to stall at bedtime, so we let her get away with a few things, and eventually got her calmed down for prayers and lullabies. She said she needed one more sip of milk, so Jeff brought her cup, and then after I laid her in the crib, we both sang “Jesus Loves Me” to her twice, and she was good to go!
Jeff and I started watching “Far & Away,” a few nights ago, and haven’t finished yet. So we’re going to make some popcorn and snuggle up on the couch together for an at-home popcorn & a movie night!
