Cute little matchy-matchy girls in outfits they got for Christmas, ready to take on a cold day. And please notice Addie’s little leg-pop pose in all of the photos from today.

I went up to the tax collector’s office first thing this morning, for my second attempt at renewing my driver’s license. I went back in mid-December, trying to be on top of things (since I have until the end of January), but when I got there, all of their systems were down and they couldn’t do anything. So I made a new appointment for today instead. I checked in, sat down, and after reading about one page, they called my name already. But then the whole process took like forty-forevers, with a thousand questions, and things to sign.
I had also looked online ahead of time and was under the impression I didn’t need to bring anything other than my license, but then she asked for two additional documents for proof of address. I dug out an old piece of mail I just happened to have in my purse, but it was older than 60 days, so it didn’t count… I was able to go back out to my car for my tag registration, and she was able look up our home property address on the property appraiser’s website. She was also an older lady, with a sign on her window that said, “In training, please be patient.” It was just a lot of hoopla. I left just wishing I had actually had more time to sit and read beforehand. But at least that’s done, and I won’t have to do it again until 2034!

Also, please look how cute my matching planner and Kindle case are! I got this planner back in the fall, along with some bookmarks (the one picture above, actually), and a drink coozie, from a small business on the TikTok shop. Then she put her Kindle cases on super sale for Black Friday, and I sent Jeff the link about three times that week, and he got it for me for Christmas!

I made taco salad bowls for dinner tonight, and put just about everything under the sun in my bowl. As my sister would say, “Holy ingredients!” Mine was shredded lettuce, taco meat, cheese, tomatoes, black beans, corn, avocado, green onion, salsa, sour cream, taco sauce and a teeny bit of crushed tortilla chips. Jeff’s varied slightly (less veggies, plus ranch dressing), but was mostly the same. The girls just had everything all separated out on little trays, and ate what they wanted. And this was delicious. And I still have enough to make two more salads for lunches this week.

After dinner, Emerson was my “fridge runner,” and as I packaged up leftovers, and cleaned up all the ingredients, I would tell her where it belonged, or where she could put it, and she put everything away in the fridge for me. Then I asked her if she wanted to wipe the counters, and she was like, “YES!!!” And literally jumped around all excited to do it for me.

Then it was business as usual for all the bedtime stuff… Bluey, jammies, brushing teeth, prayers, and lullabies, all snuggled up in bed with Pennie too.

I watched the middle portion of “People We Meet on Vacation” tonight, and it’s still super good. But I’ll need one more night of blogging to finish it up tomorrow night.
