Last Day of Second Grade

As always, it feels like this past school year has just flown by in the blink of an eye. First day of second grade feels both like forever ago, and also just yesterday. I know that’s two cliche’s in a row, but cliche’s are cliche for a reason, because they’re universal and overused and usually true!

On the left is the first day of 2nd grade & 3K, vs today on the last day!

Scrolling around on the interwebs today, I saw a video of someone find this lamp at a thrift store, and now this vintage tea pot lamp is like my ultimate thrifting goal. You can buy them on eBay, but it’s like $35 plus $50 shipping, and obviously I’m not paying that much. So this is now what I’ll be looking for whenever we got out thrifting! And if you’re a thrifter, please keep your eyes out for this for me! (Jeff just saw it and said it’s not too hard to make, so I guess that’s always an option!)

We got this picture from Addie’s teachers today, of her and her little bestie. They’re always following each other around, and it’s very cute.

Emerson had a short day of school, and a short day of after-school, when Jeff came to pick her up early, around 1:30. They hung out at home for a while (waiting on Paul’s Pest Control to come by and make sure the termite swarm wasn’t making tubes under our house or whatever; we already have annual care through them, but they’re just always worse in May every year), and then they went to pick up pizza. Jeff has been craving stuffed crust pizza, so he ordered and picked up from Domino’s. The crust part was delicious, but the pizza itself wasn’t that great, honestly. Turns out, I’m not a huge fan of Domino’s I guess.

But anyways, they picked up the pizza, and I picked up Addison, and then we watched Lilo & Stitch while we ate pizza.

Earlier today, I finished reading “The Perfect Rom-Com,” and it really was so stinking cute! It’s a book about books, and the publishing industry, and it was a sweet, easy 5-star read for me. Next up (which I tried to start tonight but the girls were very distracting so I’m gonna have to re-read the first few pages again), is the second novel I’ve read by this author, and I’m really looking forward to it, “The Story She Left Behind.”

We did a quick little 10-15-minute tidy up around the living room, trying to get things mostly cleaned up tonight. Jeff also ran across town to borrow a couple of beach umbrellas from his mom, so that we can take the girls to the beach tomorrow! And it looks like he found some beach toys to borrow there too.

We got some of the stuff for tomorrow packed up in some tote bags, and I worked on our meal plan for next week, and scheduled our Walmart pick-up order for first thing tomorrow morning.

We did Bluey and bedtime, and then my sleepy girls finally quit fighting and went to sleep.

Gonna go pack up a few more things to get ready for our beach day tomorrow, so that we don’t have to do too much in the morning, but also get moving on the road relatively early-ish…
