I just can’t stand how cute this little girl is, with her big-girl-backpack on! So, so adorable! Also, she herself chose to wear her kitty cat ears headband, which is also super adorable. And you can see how excited she was about her “granolda” bar for pre-breakfast!
So at the beginning of every month, my Mama always sends out emails to the women in our family (and shares on Facebook) these daily scripture writing challenges. Each one has a specific focus or theme for the month, and for June it’s “praise and worship,” and I’m really looking forward to that! So on my morning break, I made sure to write and reflect on today’s versus, while listening to praise & worship music, and it was really lovely. (Let me know if you want me to forward you the challenge email!)
And then at lunch, Jeff and I went on our first WFH walk together! My office is doing a “fresh air walking challenge” for the month of June, challenging us to walk 45 miles in the 22 working days of June. So that’s an average of 2 miles a day every working day this month. We eased into it today, with 1.55 miles, and it was HOT. Poor little Pretzel was SO worn out! We probably won’t take him every day, but he did good today! Hoping Jeff and I can stick with it ourselves, because obviously we need it, but geez louise it’s so stinking hot out there!
While we were at home writing scripture and walking in the heat, Emmie was having a good day at school with her teachers & friends!
And then for my afternoon break, I read my Kindle library book and snacked on fresh, delicious watermelon. (I just ate a little right out of the container, because who wants to dirty up another dish for no reason!?)
We got a surprise in the mail today – our Sunday school teachers mailed Jeff and I our quarterly curriculum book, and they also sent a fun beach ball with it, that Emerson loved!
We had a simple dinner of sauteed chicken & onions, with mashed potatoes and black eyed peas, but my girl needed some Ranch dressing to go with it. In the first photo, she was very distressed telling Daddy where to put it, and the second photo was so grateful and thankful for the dipping sauce.
After dinner, Jeff took the weed-eater to the front garden bed, while Emmie and I watched from inside. (She’s so scared of loud noises.) But once he finished up, we went outside and got on our gardening gloves, so we could do some yard work too!
Last spring, I got down on my hands and knees every night for a week straight, and weeded this whole thing out. It got a little out of control these last few months, so it was way overdue tonight. We only got about 1/3 of the garden bed cleared out, so we’ll have to try to finish up over the next few nights. Then we’ll need to put down some of that black garden fabric stuff, and top it off with some mulch or something. I don’t know, I’m not too sure what I’m doing, haha 😉
But my girl was such a great, sweet helper, and just got in there and got straight to work, and didn’t mind getting dirty!
Oh yeah, and while we worked up front, Jeff mowed the back yard.
I gave Emmie a super quick bath, and then let her watch videos in my bed while I took a super quick shower. And then it was time to read some bedtime Bible stories, and do our usual bedtime routine.
My girl was both incredibly goofy and sweet tonight, but she did good going down to sleep. We need to start a load of all of our super sweaty laundry, and then we’re going to collapse on the couch before bedtime! These June challenges are off to a great start, but man, we’re tired!
