We had another smooth morning drop-off this morning. It seems we’re finally settling in with her new classroom and her new teacher, and things are going much better this week. On last night’s post, a fellow GR-mom commented that her son was having a rough drop-off, and Emerson came over to comfort him and talk about farm animals. It was so precious, and it made me so proud of her sweet little heart!
Art time and puzzle time at school.
When I got to school to pick her up, she was riding around with some friends on the “bye-bye buggy.” (A buggy with six seats for littles.) She saw me and smiled at first, but then asked for Grammy. I started unbuckling her, and she got mad and was like, “No! Grammy coming!” And then she proceeded to buckle herself back up! I told her Grammy wasn’t coming, because it was my turn today, but promised we could see Grammy again soon. But she just got mad and cried for a bit on our walk out to the car. She did calm down though pretty quickly, and was fine. But we did have to do a video call with Grammy & Papa, just to check in with them, and she loved it!
Cheetos for an after-school snack. (I love her little crossed ankles.)
Drinking milk from a big girl cup.
We had mostly Trader Joe’s Chinese food for dinner (veggie fried rice and potstickers), plus a few leftover egg rolls & cheese wontons from a couple days ago.
We listened to the “My Fair Lady” record again tonight during dinner, and after we finished eating, I was holding Emerson, dancing around the dining room and singing “I Could Have Danced All Night,” and she was smiling so big and having fun. For the record though, this alto was barely able to hit some of those high notes the end. (For you non-musical folks who might not know what “alto” means, if you ever hear high notes in a choir, it aint me singing ’em! Haha) Then we pulled up a video of that clip in the movie on YouTube to watch it, and I sang along again.
She found my chapstick and used it, and ten smushed it all up because she insists on putting the lid back on it herself…
We did a quick bath (where I again kept singing “I Could Have Danced All Night” in the bathroom, because, acoustics!), and then put her Lady & The Tramp jammies back on. And of course she wanted to eat another snack on the couch, so we hung out there, and did bedtime books on the couch too.
She put up a bit of a fight again once it was time to actually go to bed, so Jeff had to hold her for a while to get her calmed down. Bedtime every night this week has been kind of rough for some reason, and it takes a toll on all of us! I’ve been blogging while he’s been putting her to bed, so that I could listen on the monitor in case I was needed. It’s been quiet for a whole now though, so I’m hoping he’ll be able to lay her down in the crib and slip out soon. I’m going to go ahead and get started on dishes now though, since things are all quieted down.
