Look at this cutie pie! This is another “new” outfit we’ve actually had for a long time, but we were just waiting on her to grow into it, since it’s 12-month size 😉 And I’d say she looks adorable in it!
She was Little Miss Independent walking into school and down the hallway to her classroom. But once we stepped in the door of her room, she started getting clingy… She helped me hang up her bag on her hook, and then we walked over to the teacher and other kids. She wouldn’t let go of me though, so I had to hand her off to Ms. Sheila and just skedaddle! I stopped at the front desk to chat with Ms. Renee for a second, and then she ran back to check on Emmie and give her some more hugs. I’m sure Emmie was glad for that, and we’re grateful to Ms. Renee!
For lunch, Jeff picked me up for a little soup & salad lunch date at Jason’s Deli. We both made a salad bar salad, and got a bowl of chicken pot pie soup. Although I should have definitely only gotten a cup instead of a bowl, because I could not finish all of that soup, even though it was delicious.
Look at Emmie with all the little friends! I don’t know if they were playing a game or something, but they’re so cute!
This day two years ago in 2017 was a “big day” while on maternity leave. Since I wasn’t blogging them, the basics you need to know are I rarely left the house, I almost always had on a nursing nightgown/robe combo, and even though I showered daily, I never did hair or makeup. So a trip to CVS & church in one weekend really was a big deal!
And them strangely enough on this day one year ago on 2018, I was wearing the exact same dress as this date in 2017 (see above), and it was Emmie’s “first day of school” in a new classroom. (If I would have known the pattern, I would have worn this dress again today. But alas, I did not…)
After work, I started listening to a new audio book. I actually read this in hardcover last fall, and absolutely loved it. Five out of five stars. The author is originally from Thomasville, and she will be there next month doing an event, and I’m going and I’m excited! So I’m “re-reading” the book now, by listening to it, in anticipation of the event next month.
When I got to school to pick up Tater Tot, she was sitting on the carpet, quietly and calmly lining up all the creatures in a neat little row. I thought it was precious!
This afternoon, we made a last minute plan to meet Jeff’s parents for dinner at The Fisherman’s Wife, so we headed there after school. We beat everyone there because of all the traffic, so we stopped in the store next door, Found For Home, to browse for a quick minute. She was just about to close, but she was sweet enough to let us come walk through for just a minute, and it was so cute! I actually already “like” their page on Facebook, but had never been there before, but now I really want to go back and check it out more!
My fried grouper basket was delicious, although Emerson ended up eating most of my cheese grits. I also shared everything else from my basket with her, even though she had her own cheeseburger. But I don’t mind because she’s so cute! Plus, that was so much food, and even sharing it with her, I still didn’t eat all of it.
I also shared my hush puppies with her. When we told her what they were called, she thought it was funny! So we kept saying it over & over, and also saying, “hush Nana, hush mommy,” etc, and she loved it! She thinks we’re hilarious.
After dinner, Jeff and his dad went to Lowe’s, to buy us a new lawnmower. When we moved into this house three years ago (our previous rentals always did the yard for us before that), we inherited my Granddaddy’s old push-mower. It’s served us pretty well since then, but it was time for an upgrade. So Dave drove him there to pick it up and then brought it back home, since he has a giant truck and Jeff just has a tiny Volvo car. He was excited about his new rear-wheel-drive, self-propelled, 7.75 horsepower mower with a grass bag (I had to ask him all those deets just now, haha), but he’ll have to wait until tomorrow to try it out, since the yard is now soaking wet.
Nana rode to our house with me & Emmie, and we drove home through a crazy thunderstorm, pouring rain, but made it home safely. (I was actually a little concerned, and was only going about 20 mph, or less, on parts of Tennessee Street with standing water.) Since it was thundering and lightning, we decided to skip her bath time, and just her straight into her nightgown. But she saw these shoes sitting on the counter that we bought her at Walmart last night, and just had to put them on for a bit. My goodness she’s cute! And these bad boys were only $8.88! Probably going to buy a few in bigger sizes this weekend, before they’re all gone.
She was super sweet and lovey-dovey at bedtime tonight, and was giving me all the hugs and kisses. We read a book, drank some milk, and said her prayers, and then she was ready for her lullabies. I was able to sing a little bit tonight, and she was so easy to put down! I’m going to read a little bit while Jeff showers (he got super sweaty getting the mower put together, and then putting it in the storage shed), and then I’m sure we’ll watch an episode of “Fringe.”
