Addie has been allllll about pancakes lately, asking for them all the time. When I got home last night, she held her little hands clasped together and very sweetly begged for mommy to make pancakes for today. I just so happened to have this random box of hot chocolate flavored pancakes in the pantry.
I think they were still leftover from last year, and although not expired, there will still somehow a little….stale, or something. Addie liked them though, so that’s what matters. I accidentally made the whole box though, so we had a huge mountain of very thin pancakes. We’ll try re-heating them in the toaster oven this coming week, and see if they hold up or not.
Emmie had an early morning choir practice at church, that Grammy brought her to after their sleepover last night. Jeff headed out after breakfast to go do some of his side-work for a videographer who needed some computer help. So it was just me and Addie at home. I put on a vinyl on the record player (my first time playing this one since I bought it from a pawnshop through Facebook marketplace a few weeks ago; it’s two different colored records, and it’s so pretty!), and I got busy cleaning up around the house. Addie “helped” by taking approximately two things to her room, and just played most of the time. I did sit down with her and draw for a few minutes, and she even traced her name once or twice.
Emmie’s choir practice was over at noon, so I showered and got myself and Addie dressed, and headed to the church. We picked up Emmie and her bestie Daisy, for her to spend the afternoon with us, while her Mama was working a wedding today (she’s a hair-stylist).
We went to lunch at Culver’s with Grammy and Grandmommie, and Jeff met us there when he finished with his client. We took all three girlies back to the house, so we could fight Addie down for her nap. First though, I got some work out of these three, and got them to clean up the living room for me 😉 Adidson had already had a few breakdowns throughout the morning and early afternoon, but of course she “wasn’t tired.”
We left Jeff at home to take care of Addie and keep her resting (it was no easy feat), and I took Emmie and Daisy to the library. We had a few more Boxcar Children books on hold to pick up, and then I just sat down and let them play over in the kids section for about an hour, until right as they closed for the day.
Daisy found this Rapunzel braid in Emmie’s room while they were playing at our house earlier, and proceeded to wear it the rest of the day.
We took Daisy home after the library, and then Emmie and I went to TJ Maxx. We were planning to do some actual shopping, but you would not believe the line in there today! So we just wandered around looking at things for about 10-15 minutes, and found these really cute stools we’ve seen in videos online and she’d been dying to see in person. I actually really loved the little green mushroom stool (with storage!), and am more than a bit considering going back for it if possible sometime…
Emmie and I did our Walmart grocery pick-up on our way home, and then we got everything unloaded and put away. Jeff and I had our favorite Detroit-style deep dish (frozen) pizza for dinner, and I air-fried some little chicken patties for the girls for their dinner. We got them in the bath afterwards, and we tried to fold some clothes while they got cleaned up. We busted out their new Christmas jammies tonight, both of which are unbelievably soft and cozy. While the pizza was baking earlier, I was washing up all the dirty dishes, and Jeff was getting the Christmas decor down out of the top Addie’s closet. We didn’t do anything more than get all the stuff down, but at least we’re moving in the right direction.
Tomorrow, we’ll attempt to actually get the tree put up and possibly decorated, but it’s definitely a huge chore, when we’re still under the weather. Addie is getting better, and hasn’t had fever today, so that’s great news. We’ve still got that cough and tiredness though, and are just slowly still recovering…
