We had such a great Saturday today! Started off with breakfast at home, then a couple of cuties in tiny skorts.
Addison also wanted to make sure I got a picture of her Squishmallow backpack that she packed up today. (I have no idea what she had in there today, but it was very important to her, of course.)
We went to a church out near us having a huge indoor yard sale. We did find a few things inside (giant photo frame for $2, vintage Taylor Swift t-shirt for Emmie for $2, and a few other things), and then the man selling little plants out front wanted to just give us a little plant, because the girls were so cute. So he gave us this tiny little tomato branch for us to plant, and hopefully I can do well with it!
And of course you know we love a trip to our favorite Lake Jackson library branch on a Saturday, to do a little scavenger hunt and pick out some new books.
We picked up Jersey Mike’s subs for lunch, and took them home to eat while we finished watching the second half of “Brave” on Disney+.
Then Nana came over to pick up the girls and take them to a birthday party for one of the little girls at her church. While they were there, Jeff and I stayed home to work on chores. One of the things I worked on was this cute new bookshelf! One of our old friends from our old church found this on the side of the road and thought we might like it. It’s probably like 40 years old, and real wood, in pristine condition. I love the sweet little hearts on the side, and the natural wood color.
Allll of these books were previously on the floor in front of our other shelf (y’all have seen plenty of pictures of the girls standing there in front of those stacks of books), so clearly we needed more shelf space. I pulled other little cute things from around the house to finish it out, and I love it so much! There are also some card games in the basket on top, for easy access, since we moved the rest of our game shelf, tucked away on the other side of the room.
Jeff also mowed the front yard again super fast, to keep it nice and tidy now that the mower is running so well. While he did that, I got us some drinks from 7Brew, and picked up our grocery order.
Then we spent like an hour folding a ton of clean laundry loads, full of a billion tiny girl clothes, and watching the “Fountain of Youth” movie on Apple TV.
I made myself another coffee in my rinsed-out 7Brew cup, at-home iced cinnamon brown sugar latte, which came out super frothy, and then Jeff and I headed over to his parents’ house.
When we got there, he helped them change out the lights in their kitchen, with some updated, flush-mount lights, that are actually the same as we changed out in our own kitchen, years back when we painted the cabinets. It took him a while though, because they have two of these. So instead of cooking, we just ordered pizza and ate in the semi-dark (with only light from the window), since they had to switch the breakers off while he was working.
The girls had a bath and put on matching kitty cat night gowns, and then had some play time, before we finally packed it up to head home.
And wouldn’t you know it, but this girl who skipped a nap and played hard a birthday party, fell asleep in the car on the ride home.
I went back to play around with a few trinkets and things on the shelf, and I think it’s all set now! We did take the woven yarn hanging off earlier, because it was too long for this taller shelf, so we’ll have to find some new things to hang on the walls in this area. I have a little stash of things in the house already, so I’m hoping I can just hang up something I already have, and not have to purchase anything.
I’m just loving this little corner of our dining room so much now!
There are still a few things I wanna get done around the house tomorrow, but I’m glad we were able to do what we did today. And with all of that, I’m definitely ready to just hang out on the couch and watch some tv before bed time.
