Heart Check-Up

Addison had some very important phone calls to make when we got to her classroom this morning. But just look at this absolute sweetest face!

Emerson had a special start to her morning, Donut Kingdom donuts with Daddy…

…Before heading to her cardiology check-up appointment with Dr. Vining. And she had such a great report today! After her open-heart surgery, there was still a teeny-tiny hole in her heart. But today, they couldn’t find it! It had completely closed up all on it’s own, which is such a huge praise!! So now we’ll switch to just once yearly checkup appointments from here on out. This should hopefully be our last big cardiology update, because from here on out, all we need to hear is, “Everything’s still the same.” So praise the Lord for such a good report today!

After her appointment, she told Daddy she wanted to come visit me at my office, and then she also talked him into getting her an icee on the way back to school 😉

One of my coworkers even gave Emerson this tiny cute little stuffed heart, which was just so appropriate for the day.

Then they just had to go on a tour around the school to visit the triplets.

So Emmie just had a half day at school today, but Addie got to have a fun time out on the slide on the playground!

Then of course Addison fell asleep on the ride home tonight, as usual.

And I made a delicious dinner tonight. I got this Mediterranean herb salmon from Aldi two weeks ago, froze it when we didn’t use it in time, then asked Jeff to de-frost it this afternoon. So I just prepped some brussels sprouts and diced onion, and cooked the fish & veggies on the sear plate in my dual oven air fryer. I planned to do basmati rice, but didn’t realize I was out. But that’s ok, because this plain ole white rice was still great. And everything just came out perfectly and so delicious!

Emerson didn’t want salmon, so she had some leftover ham. But Addison had some of everything we gave her, and seemed to love the salmon!

We had just a little bit of play time together after dinner, before we started on our regular bedtime routine…

Emerson and I listened to The Velveteen Rabbit on audiobook the other day, and she’s been wanting to listen to it again, but it’s not available again yet. But I remembered I had saved my own copy of the book from I myself was four years old, a gift from my Grandparents in 1992 at Christmas. This rabbit was also mine & Meg’s back in the day, and Meg still has the girl rabbit, wearing her little red velveteen dress. So we read half of it tonight, and will save the other half for tomorrow.

Both girls fought us slightly on bedtime, but it wasn’t anything too terrible, just took a little longer… I’ve got a few dishes to wash up, plus the bottles as always, and then I’m ready for bed!
